Summary

Indie Week (Toronto, Canada), now in it's 11th year, has become one of Canada's premiere indie music festivals, showcasing 250 acts from all over the world in front of music industry professionals.

INDIE WEEK offers 5 nights of showcases, late last call after parties serving until 4am, 20+ venues, music industry panels, industry judging, demo listening sessions, mentorships, sponsored stages and more. Approximately 120 slots will be reserved for Sonicbids artists.

MUSIC FESTIVAL:

1 showcasing artist will be picked by industry as the "Best of the Fest" and will win a trip to headline Indie Week Ireland 2015 - flights and accommodations paid for up to 5 band members.

INDUSTRY:

Indie Week includes judged showcases, late night parties/shows, industry panels, mentorship sessions, demo listening, studio sessions, networking events, hotel room showcases. 2013 Indie Week keynote speaker was John Densmore (the drummer of The Doors).

PAST ACHIEVEMENTS:

  • Tiny Danza (Toronto) signed to Wax Records off of their Indie Week Performances
  • Dearly Beloved (Toronto) performed at Indie Week Ireland and was signed to booking agency AMA
  • Mad Violinist and the Symphony Crack Orchestra (Atlanta) : tour booked tour SIN Agency after performing at INDIE WEEK
  • Mad June (Montreal): One of thru judges at Indie Week became their producer
  • Vesta Varro (Limerick, Ireland) : after winning were managed by Indie Week founder Darryl Hurs and gained a booking agent in Germany (ASS Bookings) and a German Music Publisher
  • Walter Mitty and the Realists (Limerick, Ireland): after playing Indie Week built a relationship that turned into their management / label (Cool Planet / 45 Records)

The Band

Indie Week is open to all genres minus comedy, classical

SPECIALTY SHOWCASES

The following genres will have specific sponsored showcases:

  • Irish Showcase
  • UK Showcase
  • Country Showcase
  • Metal Showcase
All acts will have 1 judged showcase, if voted as best act of the night they will move on to the semi-finals, then if voted the best act of the night and move on to the main event of Indie Week, the finals.

The Gig

Each showcasing act will receive: 

1 judges showcase in front of music industry professionals

  • International will receive additional performance slots (non-judged)
  • passes to the Indie 101 music industry panels
  • wristbands to attend all performances (some restrictions apply)
  • Invite to the Indie Week Launch Party
  • Artist swag bag

Indie Week provides a basic backline (2 guitar amps, bass rig, drums minus breakables).
