Summary
The Free Press Summer Fest is an annual two-day music festival held in Houston, Texas at Buffalo Bayou's Eleanor Tinsley Park. The third annual event featured more than 160 national and local acts on eight stages and took place June 4-5 with an estimated 50,000 in attendance. This year they're looking to reserve 40 slots for Sonicbids artists to play. Two of the selected bands will receive $500 (all other slots are unpaid). Summer Fest IV will be held June 2-3, 2012. Other activities include fireworks, a skate park, a paint slide, performance art, NoiseGates human theremins, and the Sony Playstation Experience. 2012 headliners include The Avett Brothers, Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, Afrojack, Primus, The Flaming Lips, and many more!
When submitting, please include in your EPK a full band member list and their instrument(s) and a complete stage plot with details on all inputs and equipment. If you do not have these, you will not be considered.
The festival was started to emphasize local musical performers, visual arts, and artists. A recycling program, carbon off-set credits and a partnership with the Texas Campaign for the Environment are implemented to help this festival become a greener experience.
The festival is organized by Free Press Houston, a local independent newspaper and Pegstar.net Presents, a local concert promotion company.
