Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops have invited the NEMO Music Festival to collaborate on their annual Pops on the Edge Festival. This unique series brings today's symphonic sounds to life, Boston Pops style. This year the headliners, My Morning Jacket (June 21 and 22) and Aimee Mann (June 28 and 29) perform their first EVER concerts with an orchestra.
Before and after each show, NEMO will present the Edge Fest Showcase, featuring rising stars on the local music scene, including The Slip, Jake Brennan & The Confidence Men, Sarah Borges, Campaign For Real Time and the Unbusted. One talented Sonicbids member will be selected to perform a pre-concert set on June 28th and 29th, the nights that Aimee Mann headlines.
Showcases will be held throughout Symphony Hall on Huntington Avenue in Boston. The pre-concert showcases on the Aimee Mann bill are 45 minutes and begin at doors (7 PM). This is an unpaid gig for all performers (both local and national). This is a huge exposure opportunity which will be promoted by both the Pops and NEMO.
If you are a Boston-area artist with a solid local following and aspire towards national recognition this unique opportunity may be for you. The selected artists or band must be willing to customize sets to compliment the acoustics of the spaces within Symphony Hall. The selected performer must demonstrate talent, professionalism and willingness to work with the Pops Artistic Director to create an evening of modern music that honors the heritage of the Pops.
All genres that will compliment the headliner will be considered.
