Summary

The International Folk Alliance conference is an annual event that draws together music industry professionals from throughout the world to share ideas, network, and celebrate traditional music and dance. It is an event of celebration, education, and entertainment.

Don't wait to apply! At least 100 Sonicbids artists will be selected to perform at the Official Performance Alley Showcases of this 26th annual conference, to be held in Kansas City, Missouri from February 19-23, 2014.

As an integral part of the Folk Alliance Conference, the official showcases enable presenters, promoters, agents, record companies, and media people to be able to see artists who are working in the folk, world music and dance field. The emphasis is on emerging artists, or those who may be regionally well-known, or well known within their genre, who are looking to expand their opportunities.

Artist selection will be based on multiple genres of music categories. Selected showcase performers also have the opportunity to perform private showcases in the host hotel. Over 100 Sonicbids artists were selected to play Folk Alliance in 2012, including:

Genres accepted include: Singer-Songwriter, Bluegrass, Blues, Traditional, Canadian Roots, Cajun/Zydeco, World, Celtic/British, Spoken Word, Childrens, Dance, Film and other like genres.

Please note: Any artist may apply to showcase. All artists selected to showcase will need to be a current Folk Alliance member or will need to purchase membership prior to the conference; register for the full conference; and provide technical and publicity information.

“We've never regretted going, and something wonderful always happens for us there.”

"If we had to pick one thing that has had the most impact on our career, it would be Folk Alliance. Definitely."

"Folk Alliance is really branching out - it's not just a lot of "Kumbayah." It's exciting and vibrant and new. There's some wild, cool stuff happening there, and we love being a part of it"

Jordana of Harpeth Rising said, "We had an incredible experience at Folk Alliance. It was inspirational to be around so many people who care deeply about folk music."

"The workshops were informative and a great format - small enough so that you could ask questions, but large enough so you got the perspective of multiple people in the industry, including booking agents, managers, and fellow artists. The contacts we made at FA propelled us forward and I believe will continue to do so for a long time!"
