A chance meeting at a guitar festival in Australian outback brought these four very diverse musicians together. Four years later, Guitar Heaven Tour tells of its humble beginnings and how Milica Ilic, Desert Child and Simon Fox were destined to play together on the world stage.
Milica Ilic recalls: ‘I saw that a duo from Broome was playing at the adjoining venue and thought nothing much of it, apart from the fact that it may be two guys from a local pub putting on a show. Yawn!’
Similarly, the Desert Child duo questioned Milica’s playing credentials, as her promotional program hailed her as an ‘internationally acclaimed classical guitarist.’
‘At age 20? I was eager to actually see her perform for myself’ pondered equally suspicious Guy Ghouse of Desert Child.
Simon Fox was an accomplished solo acoustic guitarist hailing from Melbourne, Australia.
What followed next is an absolute awe and respect of each other’s styles. The two soloists befriended the Desert Child duo, and a unique bond was formed.
Year 2006 saw the first extensive tour of Western Australia with Milica Ilic, Simon Fox and Desert Child. In 2007, Milica and Desert Child covered all of the capital cities of Australian states with a remarkable momentum. In 2008, Simon rejoins the group for an extensive tour of South Australia (August 2008) and this will be followed by a 6 week fully comprehensive tour of Australia in late 2008/early 2009.
‘Our aim is to bring the show to as many people as possible. The dynamic is excellent. On most evenings the show progresses by featuring each artist and this usually culminates in an amazing finale. The artists have such respect for each other and you will find that they sit through each other’s sets, night after night, listening acutely.
