Bio

Caveat is a five piece rock band based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The members are Singer Loren Groves, Drummer
Andrew Wilkins, Guitarist Andy Mathiasen, Guitarist Justin Weisberg and Bassist Ben Smith. Having played in several bands in The Bay Area Loren Groves met with band members Ben, Andy, Andrew and Justin who were looking for a new singer. It only took one meeting for all five to agree this union would be a good idea. What the guys didn't know was how much they had in common musically. Loren was disillusioned about the current status of contemporary rock, and had spent three years listening to all kinds of music which included classic rock, blues, psychedelic and folk. Justin, Andy, Ben and Andrew all had an affinity for classic rock and blues and had played together in different projects dating back to their High School days. Within weeks of meeting the guys had started to gel as a band and had written several songs. What was a big surprise to everyone was the direction the band was going musically. The band has a very unique sound blending rock, blues, folk and psychedelic. One important element was also very important to the band and their music, a message! loren had picked up many things from delving into music from the past, but nothing struck him more than the strong social and political messages that music once had. A strong lyrical message is now present in almost every song Caveat writes.

Loren and the band manager had started collecting vintage gear over the last three years to get that sweet tone of the sixties and seventies. This included all kinds of old tube amps (Gibson, Fender, Silvertone, Supro etc.) that they could record with as well as keyboards like the Vox continental (The Animals, The Zombies, The Doors) and the Wurlitzer 200A electric piano (a studio favorite in the seventies). With these vintage instruments Caveat has been able to create a modern take on classic rock, folk, psychedelic and blues.

Caveat can best be described in the following way: A group of young polished musicians who have a deep respect for all the true artists that have come before them (Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Elvis, U2, Cold Play etc.) and feel compelled to carry on the legacy of artists like these and create music that echos from the past and has a message for today's generation.
