"Something More, Loretta Hagen"

Loretta Hagen - Something More
The title of this CD might refer to the singer's voice. There is indeed something more in Loretta Hagen's vocals.
Although she's from New Jersey, the material has a country feel, having been recorded while Loretta lived in Nashville.
With her big alto, she covers many of the standard subjects &emdash; love found, love lost, love missed, love almost found and a
whole lot of personal redemption. All of it is gripping and real and it's mainly due to Loretta's big voice.

"Loretta Hagen, I'm Coming Up"

I’m Coming Up is Loretta Hagen playing to her strengths and succeeding, magnific
Reviewer: Gods of Music
I’m Coming Up is Loretta Hagen playing to her strengths and succeeding, magnificently. Loretta falls somewhere between Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Kim Richey and Shelby Lynne; a songwriter’s songwriter and a passionate performer. Loretta’s intonation, inflections, and diction are the kind you hear from legendary artists. Her ability to weave a story places her squarely in the pristine company of her aforementioned peers. This is a summer time song, the kind I’d put in the cd changer for the car so that I can go out and tool around the Rocky Mountain canyons. Now I do have an edge here, because I’ve been listening to this song almost daily from the time I first heard it three months ago. I put this in the player along with Emmylou Harris, Chris Hillman, Steve Earle, Shelby Lynne and Mary Chapin-Carpenter, set the cruise and settle back for a nice drive. Loretta’s music on this song soars. It’s the kind of song I’d dream of hearing in the background while I lay alongside a Colorado Rocky Mountain stream watching eagles. It has that kind of imagery for me. The harmonies on this recording, provided by Bob Delevante, are tremendously sung. The players Loretta is surrounded with here are studio masters, and the production makes this song perfectly suited for the NPR / PBS crowd. I’d expect to see Loretta perform at any festival in the country where folk, country, bluegrass and americana come together. Is it good enough for commercial radio? … straight up! Matter of fact, this review ends here with this: I cannot think of or hear one single thing I’d change in this song … this is as perfect as it gets for me. Chris K.

"Loretta Hagen- Sundown Till Dawn"

Loretta Hagen - Sundown Till Dawn
"2008 has been good to Loretta Hagen. Twelve self-penned songs for that big, Nashville-style voice to ride on.
Many songs are inspirational and seem directed inward for the singer as well as for the listener. Some, like
"Mirror, Mirror," are so brilliantly conceived lyrically, they seemed destined for one of the Nashville biggies to
pick up and have a monster hit. "Mirror, mirror, can you bring love back, mirror, mirror, try / Layered teardrops
blur my reflection, mirror, mirror, lie." Of course, if justice prevails, and the buying public will take to a li'l ol' gal
from New Jersey, Loretta will have the big hit (or two) herself."

Loretta Hagen delivers rich alto vocals, polished award winning lyrics and tightly woven harmonies; the hallmark of her musical career. A 2013 JAM Awards “Top Female Songwriter of the Year”, winner NJ Folk Festival Songwriter Competition, and 2012 CT Folk Festival Finalist, Loretta recently released her third CD, Mud and Stone, featuring uplifting heartfelt ballads, playful up-tempo country swing, and cool bluesy grooves. “Mud and Stone” debuted at #10 on Folk DJ Charts, consistently #1 on the Roots Music Report for NJ, #5 Top 50 Folk Albums RMR, and receiving airplay throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Loretta has shared the stage with Pete Seeger, Roger McGuinn, Steve Forbert, Richie Havens, Gretchen Wilson to name a few and plays premiere stages across the Northeast. Loretta’s melodies leave folks feeling as if they are listening to their own stories set to song.
“This effort [Mud and Stone] is first class, top tier, a true contender as an artist to reckon with.”
John Apice ~ No Depression ~ Loretta Hagen “Mud and Stone”

Hagen, a New Jersey-based singer-songwriter brings her songs to life with gentle sincerity and tongue-in-cheek musings through her depiction of the human experience in today's economic and social climates. Loretta's melodies leave folks feeling as if they are listening to their own stories set to song.

Career highlights include performances at many concert venues and festivals throughout the Northeast and Nashville such as Outpost In The Burbs, Mayo Center for the Performing Arts, Acoustic Cafe, Listen Live Music, Borderline Folk Music Club, FMSHNY Hard Luck Cafe, Art Barn Songwriters Series, SteelStacks, Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club, Bluebird Cafe, CT Folk Festival, Black Potatoe Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Acoustic Live in NYC Showcase, Musikfest, SS Cape May, New Jersey Folk Festival, and Hudson Valley Songfest and Music Expo6.

Following her critically acclaimed CD Something More, co-produced by Pat McInerney (Nanci Griffith), Hagen released Sundown Till Dawn, a CD that garnered rave reviews and radio play across the country. Sundown Till Dawn is extremely personal, with the title track written about her mother who suffers with Alzheimer's Disease. The emotionally charged ballad is included on the soundtrack of a film called "10 Mountains 10 Years" chronicling the journey of a group of mountain climbers who are raising awareness about the disease.

Loretta performs primarily as a duo or a trio consisting of husband/guitarist Gary Hagen and harmony vocalist and djembe player Linda Lambiase, or with full band if requested www.LorettaHagen.com
