Summary
Following completion of its restoration in 2005, Torontos historic landmark Gladstone Hotel has firmly established an international reputation as a unique urban hotel providing an authentic experience of local creative culture. The hotel has become a social and cultural incubator facilitating new ways of experiencing art, culture and community. The hotels Melody Bar has been rockin the hood since 1889.
An honourarium is offered for most nights and bands are also welcome to pass the jug and sell product. Beverages are always provided to the musicians. There is a full sound system that is operated by qualified, experienced technicians who care.
This room has a friendly, pub-type atmosphere for patrons to dine and have a drink. The Melody Bar crowd is a blend of young, artsy Queen Street West community and neighborhood patrons. A few years ago, The Melody Bar was carefully and painstakingly restored to reveal the character of beautiful wood work and marble columns which made this venue a popular and sophisticated lounge in the early days as a railroad hotel.
