"The Band and the Host"

"Michael, Becca, and Jim. In the kitchen as we were all talking. This is the beauty of the house concert. Talking with friends, enjoying a drink and some awesome music in an intimate setting. Get your tickets early. This place is popular!

Before I move on I want to relate a quick story. As I talked to these guys they mentioned Tim Carroll and Elizabeth Cook. Check out the liner notes when you purchase the cd... http://www.michaelandbecca.com/ I perked up and said I listen to Elizabeth all the time on Sirius 63 Outlaw Country on her show "Apron Strings." She is also a rising performing star who I think has the ability to be a real superstar in the country music world. Keep your ears open, she rocks!

My favorite Elizabeth Cook song, there are a few:

Finally. I will mention the cover of "Drivin' My Life Away." This whole cd is great and I wish you could hear the way they wrote the songs they wrote. Go see them live they will tell you during the show. Cool stories, 'Nuff said. In the meantime here is my favorite Eddie Rabbit cover. I am listening to it as I write this. They rock it!

Well, the midnight headlight
Find you on a rainy night
Steep grade up ahead
Slow me down makin' no time
I gotta keep rollin'
Those windshield wipers
Slappin' out a tempo
Keepin' perfect rhythm
With the song on the radio
Gotta keep rollin'

Oooooooh, I'm driving my life away
Lookin' for a better way, for me
Oooooooh, I'm driving my life away
Lookin' for a sunny day" - The Down South Radio Hour

"Michael and Becca"

"Here is the opening act. Jim said they were good stuff. All the way from Nashville.

Well I will back that up. I have to say I listen to music so many hours a day and I never embellish a bad performance. My thoughts on this duo? They ROCK!

The cd is so well produced and the fidelity is extremely good. They have good stories about song writing and living. The music is excellent. I encourage you to buy the cd, tell your friends, and spread the word about this cool couple. Their star is rising." - The Down South Radio Hour

"Lovesick – Michael and Becca"

Writing about love and its many intricacies is tricky business. Too often, clichés take the place of more heartfelt expression. Some love songs rely too much on grand, romantic sentiments without ever acknowledging the adversity that is an inherent part of all relationships. While there is a time and place for sweeping declarations, they can feel a bit hollow when built on a less than solid foundation.

Thankfully for more jaded listeners, Michael Krejci and Becca Hadzor (or simply Michael and Becca) seem to like defying expectations. Lovesick, the debut album from the Nashville-based duo, is mostly a do-it -yourself affair, with the Krejci and Hadzor writing/co-writing seven originals (in addition to a trio of covers from Tim Carroll, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Eddie Rabbitt), as well as producing the disc. Undeniably country, yet not quite fitting squarely in any one subgenre, Michael and Becca shun trends, relying on solid songcraft and a great supporting cast of musicians to deliver an examination of the consuming quality of love.

Krejci, who released a solo album entitled Out of the Blue in 2007, and Hadzor have traded harmonies for the past three years and exhibit a level of comfort throughout Lovesick. If the album’s title conjures up images of anguish, those emotions aren’t immediately evident. The record flows with an easiness that belies the emotional turbulence bubbling in the some of the lyrical content. Ultimately, Lovesick is an expression of calm amongst chaos, exhorting the value of mature and steadfast affection.

That steadiness is best exemplified in opening track “Get Through” which discusses the never-ending cycle of circumstances that threaten to tear apart a relationship. However, the couple in question possess enough faith in their love to ride out the “storm comin’ through again.”

“Love of My Life” is the only duet Krejci and Hadzor share. Chronicling a couple separated by an ocean, but bound by the tentative beginnings of devotion, the song ably captures the early euphoria and uncertainty of a new relationship. “I can’t help but wonder what one day it might be like/if you were the love of my life,” they ponder.

While their voices blend well, Krejci and Hadzor also offer strong individual performances. On “Same Old Song”, Krejci reflects the weariness of a man struggling to understand the poor choices of a loved one. “If you’re gonna walk with the devil/then I’ll call your bluff,” he firmly asserts before offering a shoulder to lean on: “Would you shoot with me straight/’Cause I’m no stranger/I’m just carrying the weight.”

Whether swinging through a rollicking rendition of Carroll’s “If I Could” or ramping up the sass on the bluesy title track, Hadzor exudes plucky charm. Her best moment vocally, however, may come on “Love Again”, a plea for time to heal from a broken heart. Hadzor possesses a sweet tone that highlights the tune’s understated beauty, proving that the quieter moments are as powerful as any passionate declaration.

"Carolyn Dixon’s review of the Michael & Becca album Lovesick (released earlier this month) serves as an apt introduction to the Nashville-based duo."

Bio

As the old Nashville adage goes Michael Krejci (Kret-see) drove 850 miles to Music City in an old pickup truck, with a college degree and a dream. He arrived with the utmost sense of excitement and eagerness, and now ten years later his passion to create music is as strong as ever. With three full-length albums under his belt, a well-honed stage show, and an abundance of original material, Krejci considers himself a seasoned singer-songwriter among Nashvilles music community. Hes opened for some of the biggest names in the industry, including The Band Perry and Goo Goo Dolls, and has worked and recorded with some of Nashvilles finest musicians.

Born just outside of Chicago, Illinois and having grown up in Zionsville, Indiana, Krejcis small town upbringing is evident in his lyrics. He writes introspective songs with poignant storylines and memorable melodies, often referencing the very essence of country music:  love, loss, and everything in between. Influenced by the likes of early Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks, to Hank Jr. and Merle Haggard, combined with songwriter legends John Fogerty, James Taylor and The Beatles, Krejcis music reflects it all.

In July of 2013, Krejci released his highly-anticipated studio album, Broken In. The full-length release features ten captivating songs that run the gamut from downright country and Americana to that of a more mainstream, contemporary country sound. Early reviews tout Broken In as offering some of Krejcis most prolific songwriting; nine of the ten tracks are original songs and all have commercial radio appeal. In addition, Krejci takes on Steve Earles classic hit, Guitar Town, doing it justice with a little grit in his vocals and a hand-picked cast of all-star musicians.

Broken In follows Krejcis two previous releases:  his debut solo effort, Out of the Blue (2007) and a critically acclaimed duo-project, entitled, Lovesick (2010), under the billing of Michael and Becca. The former is a blend of country, folk-rock and bluegrass styles and features special guest appearances by The Infamous Stringdusters Jeremy Garrett (fiddle) and Andy Hall (dobro & background vocals), among others. Ten of the eleven tracks on Out of the Blue are penned by Krejci while the lone cover is a unique bluegrass arrangement of Travis Tritt and Jill Coluccis country hit, Anymore.

The sophomore release, Lovesick, relishes in two and three-part harmonies and offers a distinct Americana-Roots sound. Andy Leftwich (Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder) lends his virtuous talents to the album, playing both fiddle and mandolin on several of the tracks. Lovesick contains seven Krejci originals and three carefully selected songs written by other artists. These include a countrified version of alt-country rocker, Tim Carrolls If I Could, an authentic interpretation of Eddie Rabbitts hit classic, Drivin My Life Away, and the fan-favorite, Wagon Wheel, popularized by The Old Crow Medicine Show and Darius Rucker.

With a knack for songwriting, a love for harmony, and a genuine appreciation for storytelling, Michael Krejci continues to carve out his own path in todays musical landscape. City by city, hes winning over new fans wherever he goes, one show at a time. Krejci is all about the music, all about the song. So whether hes performing solo-acoustic, as a duo, or backed by a full band, be sure to stop and take a listen. Youll be glad you did.
