Summary

The Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB) is launching the Music City Songwriting Competition and will partner with Durango Boots, NowPlayingNashville.com, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, Great American Country, f.y.e., Southwest Airlines, Warner Music Nashville and Renaissance Nashville. One lucky winner will receive $1,000 cash, Southwest Airline tickets, 2 Nights at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, and much more.

CONTEST PRIZES:

GRAND PRIZE WINNER WILL RECEIVE:


  • $1,000 Cash Prize.

  • Two roundtrip Southwest Airline tickets to and from Nashville (winner must fly from a SWA serviced airport and is responsible for their own transportation to and from the SWA serviced airport in that city).

  • Transportation from Nashville International Airport to hotel and return from hotel to airport.

  • 2 Nights at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel.
  • Winner will be interviewed on GAC TV.

  • Winning song will be played on the Sirius XM show, "Music City Connection: Heroes Behind the Hits."

CONTEST FINALISTS WILL RECEIVE(Top 25):

  • Music City Songwriting Competition Certificate of Recognition
  • Music City Gift Bag including a copy of 25 Notes for the Successful Musician:The Ultimate Guide to Making it in the Music Industry by Chad Jeffers and a copy of the CD - Original Songwriter Demos - Volume 1 which includes hits such as, Deanna Carter's "Strawberry Wine" (Matraca Berg, Gary Harrison), Miranda Lambert's "The House that Built Me" (Tom Douglas, Allen Shamblin) and Lee Ann Womack's "I Hope You Dance" (Mark Sanders, Tia Sillers).

ALL CONTEST ENTRANTS WILL RECEIVE:

Entries will be screened by MCSC, and the semi-finalists will be sent to a panel of judges who will select the top 25 finalists. The judging committee will consist of high-profile music industry professionals, including record label executives, producers, and artists, such as Rodney Atkins (Curb Records recording artist), Fletcher Foster (Red Light Management Nashville), Scott Hendricks (Sr. Vice President of A&R, Warner Music Nashville), Mike Sistad (ASCAP’s Member Relations executive), Butch Spyridon (Nashville CVB President), Alex Torrez (Music Executive), Storme Warren (GAC Host and Sirius XM radio personality).

Songs will be judged equally on melody, composition, originality, lyrics, and most importantly, commercial appeal. Quality of performance and production will not be considered. Song lyrics must be in English.
