The 2006 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest is now accepting entries to its 'Metro DC' Regional Round, co-sponsored by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). This regional round is open ONLY to performing songwriters who reside in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Submission is exclusively online through Sonicbids.
There is a discounted partner rate for members of the Washington Area Music Association (
www.wamadc.com), the Songwriters Association of Washington (
www.saw.org) and the Baltimore Songwriters Association (
www. baltimoresongwriters.org).
WHO CAN ENTER: Any performing songwriter who lives in Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia.
WHAT TO SUBMIT: To enter a song, it must be a non-commercially released, original song in the categories: Rock & Blues; Americana; Folk; World; Country; Christian; Hip-Hop; Jazz; Humor; Pop/Alternative; Children's and Other/Open.
PRIZES: Chosen finalists compete in the regional finals on Wednesday, June 7 at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA (
www.jamminjava.com). The winner of the round goes straight to the international finals of the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest on Saturday, Aug. 26 in Shepherdstown, WV (less than 90 minutes by car from DC and Baltimore), where cash and other prizes will be awarded to the top 5 co-winners. One co-winner will be chosen to perform on a Mountain Stage show (
www.mountainstage.org).
