"Four Band performance rocks the Slowdown"

Everyone from hippies to hipsters poured into the Slowdown on March 6 to see Oh No Fiasco, Midi Matilda, Shiny Toy Guns and The Dirty Heads.
Only about an hour after the show started, the admissions window pulled down the "sold out" sign.
Unfortunately the opening band, Oh No Fiasco saw the smallest crowd. This is a usual occurance for opening bands, but I stress "unfortunately" because Oh No Fiasco, for lack of better words, really, really brought it.
I must admit, prior to the show, I wasn't a die-hard Oh No Fiasco fan. I had watched a couple of videos and I liked their music. But after seeing the performance, their stock went way up. Their energy had a way of making you feel excited even though you weren't doing anything but standing.
Their sound is rhythmic and powerful. The female vocals of Lindsey Stamey are the strongest element of their music. I hate to bring up comparisons, but Hayley Williams of Paramore definitely comes to mind.
At one point, a band member laid on the ground with his feet in the air, holding a keyboard while keyboardist Kamryn Cunningham played. Later, Stamey stepped off stage, into the crowd and continued her performance from the audience, dancing and singing with fans.

"Band of the Week: Oh No Fiasco"

What to say about this band. I didn't know who they were until I saw Oh No Fiasco open for Shiny Toy Guns and The Dirty Heads. But what I saw blew me away and I had to meet this band and interview them. They have the most energizing, breath-taking stage presence and put on one hell of a show. Oh No Fiasco's sound makes me want to dance and brings a smile to my face. Oh No Fiasco doesn't just write songs. They sing anthems.I was lucky enough to get to sit down with the beautiful Lindsey Stamey, who sang with my favorite band, Pierce the Veil on "Hold Til May". Here it is:

Me: How long have you been singing?

Lindsey Stamey: I actually don't know. I think I came out of the womb singing Mariah Carey. I don't remember a time not singing. I guess I got serious and in band stuff when I was in high school.

Me: What are other roles in do you have in the band besides singing? Do you do the writing? Do you tote around the instruments?

Lindsey: I don't touch any instruments. When I write a song I start with the melody. I call it my bathtub time, my melody time. I'll just record melodies that come to my head, sometimes we'll write our songs around that. I do most of the lyrics but the guys edit them but it's a complete collaborative effort on the song writing.

Me: If you couldn't sing, you couldn't be musical, what else would you do?

Kamryn Cunningham: Zombie!

Lindsey: I always thought forensics was really cool and then I thought it would be cool to work at um....a funeral home, because I always liked the show Six Feet Under. If I didn't have music? I seriously don't know.

Me: Seriously happy lady wants to work with dead people.

Lindsey: Well I'm a little morbid too. We are a little morbid all in this band. But we love pop music. We are really influenced by like Micheal Jackson and Coldplay. Not like bubblegum pop. Also how present ourselves, in like pastels and white, from the 50's era. But there is also a kinda a dark undertone in the lyrical content of our music that I just love. The up and down of it all. I think it kind of portrays who we are as people too and what we are trying to create. So yea I guess we're all a little morbid but bright shiny people at the same time.

Kamryn Cunningham (in the background): Lindsey has the most positive energy when you're feeling down. I was so pissed off and she tickled my feet. I laughed all right long. I was a happy camper.

Me: What would be your top 3 bands at the moment?

Lindsey: I'm really diggin The Lumineers....... I'm drawing such a blank.

Me: What about a band you always come back to, no matter what?

Lindsey: Radiohead. I'll always and forever love Radiohead. They're the ones I would get tattooed. Actually the only tattoo I have, is of Mew from Denmark. Also Coldplay would be one of my top band.

Me: Last but not least what are you currently working on?

Lindsey: Well all of 2012, aside from doing some Warped Tour dates, we were recording the new album.

Me: When does that come out?

Lindsey: We are going to do something different. We have 13 tracks ready, mastered and everything. I think we are going to release an EP in the next 2 months and get more people to know about us. Then release the full album towards the end of the year, so it can come out swinging. All that's done. So now we are going to do is hit the road.

"Unsung: Oh No Fiasco"

Oh No Fiasco is a band from Knoxville, Tennessee that is putting a refreshing spin on rock music. Oh No Fiasco has been playing for about three years now and are just now getting a taste of what’s to come.

I found out about the band from fellow Knoxville artist Kenneth Nixon, lead singer of the band Framing Hanley.

You’re going to want to get up and dance to this five piece band.

Occasionally, you’ll want to sway.

This band has toured or one-offed with the likes of Framing Hanley, Shiny Toy Guns, and Pierce the Veil, so they’re already well traveled, but they’re just one track away from breaking the whole thing open.

Not much more is known about them, but if you want to do more research, lead singer Lindsay Stamey had been the lead singer in a project known as Vertigo many years back, another great band that piqued my interest.

Oh No Fiasco may be a household name by the end of this year if they put out the right song. While you’re at it, go ahead and download Stand In Lover. Your ears’ll thank you. - Urban Alternative

Bio

Oh No Fiasco provides a perfect blend of alternative rock mixed with a pop/dance feel... Formed by vocalist Lindsey Stamey, guitarist Seth Rowlette, bassist Thomas Boyd, and brothers Colin and Kamryn Cunningham, drummer and keyboardist–Oh No Fiasco!, formerly known as The Few, have created one of the most exciting musical acts to come out of Tennessee in recent years.

After touring extensively in 2010-2011 with the likes of Finger 11, Sevendust, 10 years, Red and Saliva among many others, Oh No Fiasco's captivating performance style caught the attention of 10th Street Management and the Five Seven Music label where they were signed immediately.

They then hit the studio to start writing and recording their first full length studio album due out in late 2013. Their EP featuring a sampling from the album titled "No One's Gotta Know" will be released on Five Seven Music the summer of 2013.

Drawing influences from bands like Muse, Mew, Coldplay, Circa Survive, Massive Attack, and Of Montreal, Oh No Fiasco create an intimate yet energy charged experience for listeners.

In the spring of 2013, they completed a cross country tour opening for label mates Shiny Toy Guns and Dirty Heads playing to sold out crowds and winning fans one city at a time.
