ST 37/Pleasure Shapes (mem. of Golden Cities & Tyagaraja)/Future Blondes @ Fitzgerald’s

This one’s very cool not because of psych-rock heroes ST 37, who I don’t know real well, but because of Pleasure Shapes, which is a brand-new band that includes Marcus Gausepohl of the sadly-deceased Golden Cities and Meghan Hendley of the also-sadly-deceased Solanae, Tyagaraja, Finnegan, & Sara Van Buskirk‘s backing band. I’ve known those two for a few years now, and they’re both amazing, amazing people, so I’m psyched as hell to see/hear what they come up with together (along with cohorts Cory Martin & Heather Dowling). Haven’t heard any of it yet, but with these folks’ pedigree, it’s bound to be awesome. Srsly.

Oh, and be warned: due to the recent assholishness of HPD with the so-vague-it-can-mean-anything noise ordinance, this will be an early show, starting at 7PM so the jets-taking-off roar doesn’t disrupt the slumber of oh-so-sensitive Heights NIMBYs. Way to move into a cool neighborhood and and then fuck it up, asshats.

Bio

About The Band: Long time local musicians Marcus Gausephol and Meghan Hendley (formerly of Golden Cities) re-joined forces in the Summer 2011 to form a band based off of the psychedelic sounds from their collaborations in Golden Cities. Set to make music rooted in these sound scapes with a dream pop sensibility, the keyboard guitar duo melded distorted rhodes and ambient guitar riffs into a unique sound. Male and Female vocals fade in and out of bright riffs and distorted loops. Bassist Cory Martin (Mark Jones and 20 Paces) joined the band soon after to add the final shape of the music which has now melded into a sound scape of subtle power and provocative dynamics.Currently recording at Sugarhill Studios with John Griffin (Sony Records, Music World Entertainment, Merge Records, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Wild Moccasins, Buxton, and more), debut record is due Spring 2013.

Influences: My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, M83, Yo La Tengo, Blonde Redhead, Maserati, Brian Eno, Serge Gainsbourg
