Rhode Island Singer-Songwriter-Producer Rob Marin Contributes Song to Feature Film;
New Recordings Scheduled Throughout 2011
(Providence, RI) Rob Marin, the Providence-raised singer, songwriter and producer, today announced that his original song, “Can’t Sleep,” will appear on the soundtrack of the Australian independent film Dealing with Destiny. The song was written and recorded in New York with Grammy-nominated producer GoldenChyl (Andre Fennel) who is best known for his work with the platinum selling reggae artist Shaggy. Bluepie records will distribute “Can’t Sleep” and an EP through iTunes.
In addition, Marin has joined forces with Mediapeel, the Rhode Island marketing, advertising and public relations agency/film and television production company, to produce the graphic elements for his new album and the music video for “Can’t Sleep.” These projects utilize local talent and resources. Video was shot at the Providence restaurant Local 121, where a classic lounge ambiance conjures the 1950s style of a certain saloon singer named Sinatra.
“I’ve been privileged to sing and record with some of the most gifted artists and technicians in the business,” said Marin. “And GoldenChyl is definitely best of the best as an artist, writer and producer. I'm honored to be working with him.”
Ocean State jazz critic and historian Charles Drago appreciates Marin as “the logical stylistic extension of our finest locally-bred singers. I hear in Rob some of the vocal purity of Frank D’Rone, the soulfulness of Clay Osborne, and the elegance of Rose Weaver. I’ll be listening carefully as he matures and develops his own distinct voice.”
Marin says that his current influences are many, and that his style most clearly reflects the lessons of Michael Jackson, Babyface, Robin Thicke and Bruno Mars. “My music crosses many demographic lines,” Marin says. “My new songs and productions capture my true love for R&B and pop music.”

With his clean-cut and handsome features, you just know that singer/songwriter Rob Marin used to be in a boy band. However, he's on his own now, still reaching out to the chicks with his good looks and toe-tapping pop songs. His single, "Never Tell Him," concerns an affair with an unhappy woman who's already spoken for; it's the perfect swoon track for the ladies, especially myself. According to his site, "Never Tell Him" has sold over 4,000 copies already, a substantial amount in the indie world.
Karla Ash: Is Rob Marin your stage name and Robert Prezioso your legal name?
Rob Marin: Yes, Rob Marin is my stage name. I felt that my legal name didn't quite sound right for the market I'm shooting for so I came up with a name that still stuck to my family and easier to pronounce. My stage name comes from my Mother's maiden name Marinelli. I took the elli out and I think it works.
Ash: Which of your songs do you consider the most personal to you and why?
Marin: "Never Tell Him" I consider to be the most personal to me. The lyrics pretty much tell it all. Its one of those relationships about two people who are meant for each other, yet due to circumstances they are unable to be with each other. I'm sure there are plenty of people who can relate to that.
Ash: Every musician has an 'origin,' a reason for becoming who they are. What is yours?
Marin: My "Origin"…well I'd have to say the Beatles. My parents brought me up with their music along with Creedence Clearwater Revival and the Beach Boys. There is just something about the Beatles' music that I think is timeless. However, I was also influenced by a little R&B as well such as New Edition, Michael Jackson, along with other 80's influences. I also have an international background influence in Italian music as well, with popular modern Italian artists such as Eros Ramazzotti and Gigi D'Alessio.
Ash: How has your creativity evolved over the years?
Marin: I later became very interested in recording and started to get really involved with studio production and engineering. This helped me to write and produce my own music in my home studio. I've been currently working closely with producers who have written for platinum selling artists. We are currently working together on my new album that will be released in the near future - updates will be posted on my website. In between all this I have also been singing and playing in local cover bands performing all around New England and New York.
Ash: What boy band were you in and whatever happened to it?
Marin: The name of our group was called JUST1NCE (pronounced just once). It was actually a lot of fun. We performed with 3LW at a release for Ed McMahon's new talent show. We also had the opportunity to perform at local Radio Disney shows as well. We came really close to signing with a record label out of New York. However, we had a really bad experience with management and with the passing of one of our members it was very difficult to continue.

Biography
Rob Marin is a solo artist, writer and producer originally from Providence, Rhode Island. He has been performing live for several years in a variety of venues ranging from concert stage to private functions. Starting In 2001, seizing the opportunity to audition for a local pop group, Rob awed a panel of talent scouts and was chosen as lead vocalist to represent the musical phenomenon known as JUST 1NCE (Just Once) in Boston, MA. Rob and the group joined Ed McMahon in releasing his television show, Next Big Star, at a press release in Times Square, New York. After some success with the group, Rob decided to continue his career as a solo artist and start his own record label Sonex Records. He wrote, recorded and produced his first album "Falling" in 2003. This album was recognized by an independent label in Berlin, Germany "Crownn Recording Group", with whom he co-released a single and music video entitled "Never Tell Him". This helped to launch Rob's career in the European market.
Since then, some of Rob's accomplishments include being named "RI IDOL" in August 2006 where he was chosen as best male vocalist in the singing category, and being featured on the cover of ShopInRI.com Magazine. One of Rob's songs "CATASTROPHE" was pre-released as part of a compilation CD in "No Cover" magazine which was sold at Barnes & Noble Stores nationwide. Rob also won the "TOP MALE VOCALIST" award in the 2007 New England Talent Awards. Another one of Rob's songs "Going Down" was chosen to be a part of the "Great Independent Pop Music Volume 1" CD. In the summer of 2008 Rob performed at the RI Convention Center, as one of the headlining artists at the "Giovanni Fashion Show".
For his 2nd album "Warning You", Rob worked with platinum selling producers Brad Young and Dow Brain at "Underground Productions"(www.underground-productions.com), who are known to work with artists such as Aerosmith, *NSYNC, Brian McNight, LFO, Joey McIntyre and Eden's Crush, just to name a few.
As a member of Sonicbids, Rob was selected to be a guest on WGBB 1240AM The Real Radio Show in Times Square NY, where he performed live as well as on live webstream for an estimated 1.7 million viewers in January 2011.
In February 2011, Rob was a guest on the Next Level radio show WPRV AM790 in Providence, RI with host Anthony Gemma.
On his latest project "Share My Love" The Remix, Rob collaborated with Grammy Nominated producers GoldenChyl (Andre Fennell) and ILL WAYNO (Dwayne Shippy) who are best known for their work with platinum selling reggae artist "Shaggy". One song in particular, "Can't Sleep", will appear on the soundtrack of the Australian independent film "Dealing with Destiny". Rob's goal is to become a well known artist, writer and producer. His style is similar to current artists such as Usher, Ne-Yo, Robin Thicke and Bruno Mars. His niche includes a large demographic audience with ages ranging from 18 and up. Currently Rob has been recording new songs with GoldenChyl that will be released in the near future. Rob's new songs and production are amazing and truly capture his R&B/POP style that have his fans impatiently waiting for with his new release.
