Lasell College is located in suburban Newton, Massachusetts, within eight miles of downtown Boston at the heart of the Route 128 high-tech corridor. they are a comprehensive coeducational college offering professionally oriented bachelor's and master's degree programs.

The Campus Activities Board is currently booking comedy, novelty, and music in all genres for the Fall and Spring semesters. Local, regional, and touring acts are all accepted. They need artists for the following events/series:

Comedy series: Each semester the Major Events Committee books a small comedy series (3-4 times) with one larger act.
Coffeehouse style music series: Held 3-4 times per semester, acoustic acts work best. A PA system is provided.
Lecture series: Includes diversity speakers, motivational speakers, or health-related speakers.

They also host a Spring Ball and Spring Carnival as well. Novelty and musical acts are encouraged to submit.

Lasell College generally books 3 months in advance.

They book a variety of entertainment on campus throughout the school year and have a preference for NACA agency acts. Alvernia typically books one semester in advance, and is currently accepting submissions for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 semesters.

Comedy- Alvernia generally presents comedy once a month. A PA system is provided, and comedians perform in the Bernardine Hall lecture hall (capacity of 200).

Coffeehouse- The school hosts coffeehouse acts once or twice per month in the Crusader Caf (capacity of 50). PA system may be provided.

Hypnotists and Novelty Acts- The school brings in at least one hypnotist per semester and one novelty act per month. A PA system is provided, and hypnotists perform in the Bernardine Hall lecture hall (capacity of 200).

Concerts- Alvernia hosts two big concerts per semester, typical one at the beginning and end of each semester. These concerts feature multiple acts and take place in the campus auditorium (capacity of 500). Original indie rock, pop, and college friendly acts and Top 40 cover bands are welcome to submit. No hip hop, jazz, or classical, please.

Game Shows- Typically two game shows are booked to entertain Alvernia students per semester.

The 11th Annual Jeff Buckley Tribute is scheduled to take place on November 17th and 18th. The event will be held at Uncommon Ground's Clark and Grace location. Artists have come from countries such as France, Italy, Denmark, Holland, Mexico, UK, Australia and many others in past years to perform at the tribute.

Artists may submit Jeff Buckley covers OR songs that Jeff Buckley covered; originals about or inspired by Jeff Buckley, in varying styles suitable for conversion to an acoustic/unplugged performance. Selected artists may perform one of each as well on both nights.

This event, which is supported by the Buckley family and featured on the official Jeff Buckley web site, sells out every year in less than 10 minutes for both nights' performances. Jeff Buckley's mother, Mary Guibert, has been known to fly in for this event on many occasions. All net proceeds for the night will go to The Old Town School of Folk Music Scholarship Fund, which allows musicians of all ages who can't afford to pay attend classes.

On a snowy night in February of 1994, Jeff Buckley played a legendary set at Uncommon Ground. This performance was lauded "Best Concert of the Year" by Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, and was later recalled by Mr. Kot as one of the best concerts he's ever attended.

Jeff Buckley was born in California's Orange County in 1966 and died in a tragic drowning accident in Memphis on May 29, 1997. The Speak Easy is a multi-faceted facility located at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Its state of the art sound and lighting system has hosted some Canada's top bands and up and comers such as Bedouin Soundclash, The Planet Smashers, The Trews, High Holy Days, The Miniatures, Pat Robitaille. Comedians that have frequented the stage include the Yuk Yuks and Kelly Taylor from CTM. Ryan McFarling, illusionist, is an up and coming sensation who visits the stage at The Speak Easy. Lastly, Sailesh, a very talented hypnotist that has travelled the world performing, visits the stage at The Speak Easy and puts on a wild performance.

They are currently seeking a variety of musicians and performers for the 2008 Spring semester and 2008-2009 school year. Preference is given to local and regional acts.

The large venue features a 200 square foot stage complete with full sound and lighting systems. Production wise, they have a 20 channel, 3 way Bag End sound system (Tops2 way passive box with 12" horn, plus Double 18" sub), 2 floor monitors, and 2 side fills that are approximately 3500 watts. This is definitely modifiable depending on the act that is coming in.

Throughout the ECMA Conference & Festival, there are a wide range of awards presented across many genres - and this is your chance to submit for an ECMA Award. You must be a member of BOTH ECMA and Sonicbids to qualify for an ECMA Award. You may submit before you become a member of ECMA; however, you must join ECMA by the submission deadline in order for your application to be considered.

All Atlantic Canadian artists who are members in good standing of the East Coast Music Association and who released recordings BETWEEN JUNE 1, 2007 - OCTOBER 15, 2008 are eligible to submit for the 2009 East Coast Music Awards.

The artist/group must provide proof of the date of the release. This can be done through submitting manufacturing invoices, a letter from a distributor, or a record company. In lieu of proof from a manufacturer, distributor or record company, the artist/group must provide documentation confirming that product is available through three (3) alternate sources of professional distribution (i.e. letter from retailer, contract with internet point of sale, catalogue listing, etc).

Recordings must fulfill all legal obligations (i.e. payment of mechanical rights, songwriting credits, etc).

The four-day music and industry extravaganza will take the city by storm. Throughout the city, the region's music and roots will take centre stage as artists and industry representatives meet to focus on the growth and development of our unique musical culture, celebrate our achievements and showcase our diverse talent.

Attended by more than 2,500 industry representatives and performers, the event has grown from a one-day event hosted in a Halifax bar, to a forum that has helped to promote many of Atlantic Canada's artists to national and international presenters and buyers.

Throughout the ECMA Conference & Festival, there are a wide range of awards presented across many genres - and this is your chance to submit for an ECMA Award. You must be a member of BOTH ECMA and Sonicbids to qualify for an ECMA Award. You may submit before you become a member of ECMA; however, you must join ECMA by the submission deadline in order for your application to be considered.

All Atlantic Canadian artists who are members in good standing of the East Coast Music Association and who released recordings BETWEEN JUNE 1, 2007 - OCTOBER 15, 2008 are eligible to submit for the 2009 East Coast Music Awards.

The artist/group must provide proof of the date of the release. This can be done through submitting manufacturing invoices, a letter from a distributor, or a record company. In lieu of proof from a manufacturer, distributor or record company, the artist/group must provide documentation confirming that product is available through three (3) alternate sources of professional distribution (i.e. letter from retailer, contract with internet point of sale, catalogue listing, etc).

Recordings must fulfill all legal obligations (i.e. payment of mechanical rights, songwriting credits, etc).

No, it is our very own East Coast Music Awards, Conference & Festival: A celebration of the best and brightest musical talent, home-grown in our Atlantic Canadian community.

Celebrating our 21st year, the East Coast Music Association is preparing for the 2009 East Coast Music Awards, Conference & Festival in Corner Brook, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada February 26th - March 1st, 2009. The four-day music and industry extravaganza will take the city by storm. Throughout the city, the region's music and roots will take centre stage as artists and industry representatives meet to focus on the growth and development of our unique musical culture, celebrate our achievements and showcase our diverse talent.

Attended by more than 2,500 industry representatives and performers, the event has grown from a one-day event hosted in a Halifax bar, to a forum that has helped to promote many of Atlantic Canada's artists to national and international presenters and buyers.

Throughout the ECMA Conference & Festival, there are a wide range of awards presented across many genres - and this is your chance to submit for an ECMA Award. You must be a member of BOTH ECMA and Sonicbids to qualify for an ECMA Award. You may submit before you become a member of ECMA; however, you must join ECMA by the submission deadline in order for your application to be considered.

All Atlantic Canadian artists who are members in good standing of the East Coast Music Association and who released recordings BETWEEN JUNE 1, 2007 - OCTOBER 15, 2008 are eligible to submit for the 2009 East Coast Music Awards.

All submissions, except where indicated, require a full-length recording. A full-length recording is defined as a recording that contains a minimum of six (6) tracks, or is a minimum of thirty (30) minutes long. At least fifty percent (50%) of the tracks on a recording must be of previously unreleased cuts (A "cut" is defined as recorded material previously released to radio or other audio broadcasters (web, satellite, digital) or retail).

All manufactured product must meet industry standards and be sold through live performances or retail stores which sell sound recordings in the ordinary course of business, Internet sales, or mail orders.

The artist/group must provide proof of the date of the release. This can be done through submitting manufacturing invoices, a letter from a distributor, or a record company. In lieu of proof from a manufacturer, distributor or record company, the artist/group must provide documentation confirming that product is available through three (3) alternate sources of professional distribution (i.e. letter from retailer, contract with internet point of sale, catalogue listing, etc).

Recordings must fulfill all legal obligations (i.e. payment of mechanical rights, songwriting credits, etc).

Eligible artists must be Atlantic Canadian. An Atlantic Canadian is defined as:
1.A person who was either born in Atlantic Canada; or
2.A person who has lived in Atlantic Canada for the full eligibility period (June 1, 2007 to October 15, 2008).
At least 50% of group members must be Atlantic Canadian.

All submission requirements must be met. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

The Entertainer of the Year category is open to all Atlantic Canadian artists, regardless of eligible releases.

All artists who submit for any Music Award, or Showcase opportunity are automatically entered for the Fan's Choice Award.

For the definitions of Aboriginal and African-Canadian pertaining to those categories, please contact the ECMA office.

Any occurrences of questionable eligibility shall be dealt with at the discretion of the ECMA Awards Committee.
