Bio

Out of the island of St Lucia comes a suave voice, one of the next big sounds to hit the airwaves in the gospel arena. Shem Meluce, a singer, songwriter and musician, born June 17, 1982, became interested in music at a tender age of eight years. Shem, a born talent, developed his skills as a songwriter when he wrote his first song, sung by a local church group at a Christmas function. He later composed numerous songs for weddings, dedications, baptism, and also featured in Concerts Island wide allowing him the opportunity to share the stage with some of the islands’ best in both the Gospel and Secular arena.
Shem is a member of an all male group that is, “United Brothers For Christ (UB4C)” and is the main composer of their songs. The style of writing and songs adopted by him brought rise to the group presently being one of the leading and popular gospel groups in the south of the island. In August 2004, the group recorded a nine track demo rewarding them airplay on gospel radio stations in St Lucia namely, “Joy FM” and “Prayz FM” around the Caribbean; and also Jamaica gospel Station “101 FM”.
Later in 2005 the song “Never Looking Back”; from the nine track demo was selected to be recorded at The Den studio for a gospel compilation. It was released later, having been recorded as a demo and received air play locally, regionally and on the international scene. “Never Looking Back” was also featured as a theme song in August 2007 on DIY Reggae Show on Life FM 103.6 (www.lifefm.org.uk) every Saturday morning in London for an entire month. This also lead Shem to feature on a “BLACK-BRIGHT News” magazine called “Reggae Warriors” the first of its kind which was published by Myrna “Lady” Loy. This was as a means of uplifting black youths in London through the use of positive lyrics and written interviews as seen on the magazine.

Shem has devoted himself by continuing to write and record at “Fourya Studio” which turned out successful when the gospel compilation album “Militant For Christ” was released in 2006 by Executive Producer, Werner “Semi” Francis. Shem again hit the scene with his songs, “Nothing Can Compare” and “Everything Is Gonna Be Right” which was aired both regionally and internationally.
In Shem’s many endeavors, he seized the opportunity to minister with his band (UB4C) in Trinidad on December 2005 followed by an unexpected performance in 2006, whilst on holiday in London. Subsequently, he continued his ministry after the album’s release (Militant For Christ). This showcased his talent to a Vincentian group which later on requested that he perform at their island’s annual Gospel Festival, commonly known as “GOSFEST”. Their timely presence paved the way at improving his performing career, allowing him to brush shoulders with several well known artists: international artists such as Evangelist Wendy Mitchell, Junior Tucker, Pastor Terrance Baynes and various other regional and local performers.
This move to St. Vincent opened doors for Shem, bringing him back to minister at a gospel concert in November 2007 called “Exalt Him” organized by a Gospel group known as New Life Music Ministries.

His life-long dream is becoming a reality daily as he takes strides toward attaining a music career. The esthetic nature that Shem possesses will enable him to achieve milestones as he aspires to achieve his dream of becoming a gospel artiste. This should serve as inspiration for him as a gospel artiste as he perseveres… Let us not be weary in well doing for we shall reap if we faint not “Gal 6:9” .Shem’s purpose and mission is to bring forth the truth of God to the young and old throughout the world.
