Bio

Cherie Seymore has music for all occasions. For weddings, corporate parties and functions, events, etc. she incorporates genres such as: Jazz, Old R&B, Show Tunes, Funk and Blues. She can supply a duo, trio or quartet. Along with the above styles Cherie will give you a taste of her originals too!

Cherie Seymore's heart is in her World Fusion sound...

Cherie says she had a sound within her being. She had to work through: dance (Latin, Calypso, Reggae & African), gospel chorus, classical voice training, studio work (voice-over, back-up vocals & arranger), musical theatre, performance fine tuning and an assortment of bands such as: Southern Rock, Top 40, R & B, Rock ‘n’ Roll and Jazz. Most of the music was composed by Cherie or in collaboration with Cherie.

A native New Yorker (raised in the Bronx) of Caribbean roots, Cherie now resides in Seattle, WA. Before settling here her musical journey took her to: San Francisco, New Orleans, Tokyo, London, Paris, Bahrain, Hong Kong, the Caribbean and Amsterdam where she gave birth to her sound…World Fusion!

In Amsterdam her bands name was “Classy, Tight & Hot”. This band reflected Cherie’s vision of multi-cultural, multi-racial, varied life experience. The players were Dutch, Nigerian, and Jamaican as well as players from Jakarta and the island of Moluccas plus this girl from the Bronx. Cherie Seymore & CTH opened for Esquire magazine’s fashion show in Amsterdam where the editor offered to promote her future CD.

Exhilarated and excited Cherie has maintained her core vision of what is now Cherie Seymore & Soul Moving. Cherie says she does not fit into any category. She believes she is a mixture or stubbornness, creativity, pioneering spirit and idealism. Her band thinks she is crazy. She owns that too! Cherie believes what the buying customer says: What a great voice! Girl you can dance! Fabulous performance! You are an all around entertainer!

The official start date for this incarnation of Soul Moving was April 24, 2006!

Cherie describes the essence of Cherie Seymore & Soul Moving as: Africa is the mother continent. The mother of all races, music, etc. The oldest piece of land. My music takes this old, roots rhythm and combines it with the evolutionary forms of itself to create a symbiosis of old & revolution. Nothing is really new! We are (when we choose to be) better because we evolve!

Ricardo Guity constantly reminds the band the reason for playing…to bring joy to themselves and others. If you want to be uplifted, let go of your troubles, smile and possibly dance…Come join Cherie Seymore & Soul Moving.
