"Under the Lights - SoundRabbit"

After highlighting SoundRabbit as one of our "Websites of the Month," I found their songs still swimming around inside my head. So, when I saw that they would be playing in Denver, I knew I couldn't possibly miss the chance to see them perform live... the evening quickly became an invigorating treat for those who came out to sit in this live venue and listen to the refreshing non-formulaic music of true songwriters.

It is pleasing to note that SoundRabbit sounds exactly like their recordings, proving that the sublime vocal tone heard on the releases is not the result of any studio tinkering. Taking a cue from some of the greats, SoundRabbit marries the art of storytelling to his compositions. One thing's for sure: the audience was definitely tuned in, listening attentively to each of SoundRabbit's creative and diverse musical offerings. "Best Colorado Artists"

Some bands have great recordings. Some bands are killer live. Then there are bands that are both. Boulder's Soundrabbit is a group that continues to craft folk- and reggae-infused world rock blended with Pink Floyd-esque sonic textures that flat-out tops better-known performers such as Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz. - The Westword / Village Voice Publications

Bio

SoundRabbit formed in Boulder, Colorado as a quartet in the summer of 2007, releasing their first full length album, This Room Becomes A Crowd, in November of that year. A year of local and national touring followed, with shows at venues and colleges in more than 15 states. The band released their second album, Tree Trunk Airplanes, in 2009. They played over 100 local and national shows to support the album that year, and continued touring nationally through the next several years, including releasing an official live duo acoustic album in 2012, SoundRabbit Duo Acoustic - Live in Boulder. In 2013, the band was personally invited by Grammy-winning bluegrass purveyors The Infamous Stringdusters to play their festival, "The Festy" in Charlottesville, Virginia. Chris Pandolfi and Andy Falco of the 'Dusters had sat in on SoundRabbit sets in Virginia in the past, and The Festy set was one of the highlights of the year for the band. SoundRabbit traveled back to Charlottesville and to Nashville, Tennessee to write and record a third album, titled Don’t Forget To Remember. The album features Joe Pisapia (Guster, Ben Folds, KD Lang) on guitar, bass, and banjo on several tracks and was released in spring of 2016.

SoundRabbit has appeared at hundreds of venues nationwide, including Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont; the Fox and Boulder Theatres in Boulder, Colorado; The Middle East in Boston; Rockwood Music Hall and the Bowery Electric in New York City; Jazzhaus in Lawrence, KS; Red Rocks Amphitheatre (main stage) in Morrison, Colorado; the main stage of the Tempe Music Festival in Tempe, Arizona, The Festy Experience in Virginia, The Denver Rock 'n Roll Marathon main stage, and countless others, large and small.

SoundRabbit has performed at colleges nationwide, including Boston College (MA), St. Lawrence University (NY), Doane College (NE), St. Mary’s University of Minnesota (MN), St. Thomas University (MN), St. Norbert University (WI), Brandeis University (MA), St. Anselm College (NH), Babson College (MA), Arizona State University (AZ), the University of Wyoming (WY), Colorado State University (CO), CU Boulder (CO), the University of Dubuque (IA), Edinboro University (PA), and many others.

SoundRabbit has donated thousands of dollars to charities through their Backstage Community fan philanthropy program, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Alternative Spring Break, Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, Pink Elephant Posse, and many others.

The band has a viral bumper sticker that reads “RBT,” and those in the know take photos holding it in places all over the world, from the Coliseum in Rome to the tops of mountains in Colorado, to remote villages in South America, to the Great Wall of China. The band uses the gallery to promote its brand to new fans around the globe.

In the spirit of keeping the fire of live music alive, at every show, SoundRabbit thanks the venue for hosting live, original music from up-and-coming artists like them, and asks the crowd to applaud and support the venue’s full live music schedule, be it a large or small club.
