Gig Overview
Show/Hide
The “Standby Records Battle to Get Signed” has kicked off nationally in 40 markets across the United States. These 40 markets are split into 5 regions: West, Southwest, Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast (regional eligibility outlined below). Bands will have a chance to compete for the following prizes:

  • 1st place: $20,000 record deal with Standby Records (worldwide distribution through Victory/Red)
  • 2nd place: 6 song demo recorded at Track Six, produced by Don Debiase, and shopped by HM Management
  • 3rd place: Music Video
  • 4th place: US tour booked by HM Touring
  • 5th place: Cargo Trailer

All artists who submit will be considered for:
  • An artist profile in the Standby Records ad in Amp Magazine (monthly)
  • Opening slots for touring Standby Records artists in artist's home market
  • A slot on the introductory "Passport to Music" festival in Cleveland in 2009

    How it works
In each of the markets listed below, there will be 8 preliminary rounds. Within these rounds, the winners will be voted for by the crowd. The 8 preliminary round winners will then face off against each other that market's final round.

Judging for the regional finals round and national finals round will consist of the Standby Records staff and guest judges from the music industry. The finalists of each market will move on to a regional finals round where they will compete for prizes and a chance to go to the national finals held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH. Travel expenses will be paid to the artists selected for the national finals.

Submission Tracker is a feature that notifies you when your EPK has been viewed, lets you communicate directly with promoters who are interested in you and guarantees that your submission will be reviewed - or your money back. Gigs not using Submission Tracker are still required to review your submission, but will reach out to selected artists using their own methods.
