Stephen Shealy

Asheville, North Carolina - Stephen Shealy’s “Real Good Man” reveals a storyteller’s ability to transform his experiences into glorious music. His style of music is a blend of Folk, Classic Rock and Country, which has been embraced by audiences from all over the world. This wonderful sound of down home Americana is clearly evident in every song. His acoustic guitar skills are exceptional and his raw vocals add depth and character to his music.

Stephen Shealy released “Real Good Man” in May 2011 with its launch performance at the renowned Bluebird Café Sunday Night Singer Songwriter Night in Nashville, Tennessee.

The lead single from that CD “Real Good Man” is a personal struggle with doing the right thing at one specific moment, questioning the simplest things and attaching a consequential action to it. This song has little southern twang to it. It’s a smooth ballad with plenty to say. Vocals are perfect for this style of music. It captures an authentic style of folk music that I haven’t heard in decades. The storytelling is glorious and the arrangement is perfection. This is the type of music you remember for ever because it sticks to your soul and the core of your very being. His songs have emotion, strength, tenderness, courage and inner beauty. One need only to surrender themselves to this music in order to experience his wonderful style of music truly is.

Musicians that have contributed their talents on this CD are:

Eric Johnson(Mixer/Producer/Drums/Bass)

Josh Gibbs (Electric Guitar & Lap Steel Guitar)

Andy Gibbon (Bass)

Stephen Shealy is currently scheduled to perform in Johnson City, Tennessee and in and around Asheville, North Carolina area in the spring and summer of 2012.

Stephen is currently in the studio working on his second CD with an estimated release date of July 22, 2012. Fans are eager to hear the songs that will be in this second album. If the first CD is any indication, then this second CD will be a quick rise to the top of the charts. Two singles have already been completed titled “Long Love Beautiful” and “Shame on Me”. "Stephen Shealy / 'Real Good Man' review"

Stephen Shealy - Real Good Man (Independent)
It’s a wearying time for this singer-songwriter, judging by the drowsy vocals of the early numbers. He is still, however, able to conjure up the golden glow of a beautiful sunset, as is depicted on the digipak cover. If we were actually sitting there, gazing out at the black, pine-tree spiked cliffs, with the golden orb descending behind them, we would have this John Prine disciple sitting with us, making his music. I hope he doesn’t mind this statement, as it’s not meant in a derogatory sense, far from it; I compliment him (and quietly wonder if the title is a homage to JP). Anyone who can emulate that great performer’s work has a little bit of a genius tucked away.

Stephen has also been very fortunate to pick band mates who quietly coalesce and blend in. Or, more than likely, he has hand picked Eric Johnson (drums, bass), Josh Gibbs (lap steel & lead guitar) and Andy Gibbon (bass). “Ali’s Song” is given over to them completely, and this low-key instrumental sidles quietly into your psyche, after being given five wonderful songs filtered through a Prine(esque) treatment . The following two numbers, “Goodbye Madison” and “Drifter”, are sung in a different voice, which may or may not be his natural timbre. It adds a bit of variety, and he reverts to Prine mode for the final three tracks. I’m glad that he made this album. I’m hoping that he will make more in a similar country rock vein. - Leicester Bangs Zine U.K

Bio

As i set out on a musical journey to write, create and record original music, my adventure has taken me from when lyrics and melodies ran rampant in my head without knowing how to get them out on paper, to the first time I wrote a song. Erasing half the lines while wearing down the head of the pencil eraser to the final draft in the wee hours of the morning, I felt like a musician, I felt like a song writer and yes, i did wake up at the crack of noon. Jb and Rage Kage would be proud!

While pigeon-holing is a consistently ridiculous method of describing music, my songs favor an alt country/americana sound. Some have said Folk Rock but quite frankly it just good honest music driven by lyrical themes of the heart. At least thats the way i see it!
