Debbie Miller (a Rockwood regular) played with a full band for the first time! They complimented her wonderfully, she says that she is tempted to call them “The Debbie Millers.” Debbie might be described as Regina-esque, due to her more “clever” and cute rhythmic piano mixed in with a clear classical piano training, and you can hear a ceratin influence. However, Debbie’s message is different. She is a highly intelligent yet teeny tiny woman who is just sick of being treated with anything less than Respect. Debbie has a lot to say. She pulls listeners in quickly with satirical lyrics that mostly comment on modern gender roles, and the tricky business of clear communication. Debbie is a writer and performer who is reminiscent of Fanny Brice at times, in that you never really know if she is going to present a sweet Jewish young lady, or a sexually frustrated 20-something. The mix of humor, sexuality and tenderness are all present in Debbie’s songs, and make her a great songwriter to see live! The addition of the full band was great to see–You could tell that their presence made Debbie more confident in leaning into certain songs (for example, the F train song, which had a rock edge it has never had before). I need to be reminded of their names again (she did a great job of introducing them several times during the set, I’m just forgetful) but in addition to her Piano, Guitar and Glockenspiel (she traded between the three), she had an additional guitar, upright/electric bass, & drums. Excellent, Ms. Miller, excellent. - ogurl.com - Leah Goldstein
"Her music - although hard to classify into just one genre - is awesomely quirky, catchy, and tends to blend innocent-sounding melodies with sometimes not-so-innocent lyrics. So, take a listen and decide for yourself. I think you'll find she's like potato chips...Just listen, she's really good."

"Balancing playful innocence and savage truth is a feat few artists can pull off, but Debbie makes it seem easy...whether she is making me smile with a light-hearted song or battering down my defenses with her brave honesty" - Local Correspondents - Jessi Robertson
"Miller is a stylish story-teller who mixes wit and wisdom in songs that slice at the truth from angles you might not expect...Fake Love, presents eleven finely crafted tunes that vacillate from frank to farcical without ever losing sight of the essential humanity that inspired each bit of musical observation." - Wildy's World
Luke Wesley and Debbie Miller (pictured) are two of the 12 NYC artists who will perform at the inaugural night of the 4th Annual LC Fest, organized by independent music community Local Correspondents at Bar4 in Park Slope...Miller's self-released Fake Love CD features quirky songs that blend humor with heartbreak. - Deli Magazine NYC Blog
"Released on April 20, Debbie Miller’s debut full-length Fake Love is a charming and welcome surprise from one of Manhattan’s most criminally underrated singer-songwriters. Equally combining comedy with hopeless romanticism, the disc is a lo-fi, no-frills blend of honesty, personal vignettes and timeless musicianship... in the overcrowded melting pot of New York City, Miller is going to need something to stand out from the pack, and Fake Love, is just the album to do it."
- ResidentMediaPundit.com
"...most of this album is about relationships, musings about their formation and dissolution. That can be pretty much standard fare in the folkish world, but Miller is able to get at the pure emotional threads that draw all of this together...Her voice is quite malleable, going from an intimate whisper to a crisp, beautiful trill.
What's great about the "less serious" songs is the delicious collision between the light musical setting and the pointed lyric." - Something Else!
"I’ve been listening to this CD every day (and sometimes twice) since it showed up in my mailbox. I love it when music resonates so strongly. It makes the writing just sort of 'happen.'" - Mark Saleski of Blogcritics.org, marksaleski.com, & SomethingElse!

Bio
Debbie Miller is a New York-based singer/songwriter who got her start in local scenes of Brooklyn and the East Village. Classically trained on the piano, Debbie taught herself how to play the guitar upon realizing it was possible to learn an instrument you could carry around.
A little over a year ago, Debbie was noticed by a producer at an open mic at Bar 4 in Brooklyn singing "Tippy Toe", a quirky song about sweetly and subtly slipping into the subconscious of a crush. Captured by her unique blend of humor and heart wrenching honesty, he approached to her to record the song. They found it hard to stop recording for the next year. The end result is Debbie's debut album, "Fake Love" which was released at NYC's famed venue, The Living Room on May 10, 2010.
Debbie's genre, though hard to define into one category, dances around folk, indie, and classical music. She writes honestly (and sometimes humorously), and engages a live audience with her wit and charm.
