"Success"

I had a great time at your show! The music is great, I love the songs, you have a wonderful presence and the stuff is funky! Your gig was clearly a success and it was my sincerest pleasure that I had a chance to be a part of it.

"If you thought soul music was dead and gone, Kristen Maxfield wants you to reconsider."

If you thought soul music was dead and gone, Kristen Maxfield wants you to reconsider. Maxfield teamed up with fellow band member Dan Stein two years ago to create the full Kristen Maxfield Band in an effort to bring back the flavor of old school R&B, Motown soul, and 70s funk in an incarnation that’s fresh and relatable to audiences of today. The NYC band’s first single, “Whatcha Waitin’ For Boy,” is a sugary-sweet track that showcases Maxfield’s vocal prowess against a lounge-friendly beat. - Aylin Zafar - URB Magazine

Bio

Kristen Maxfield has been thrilling NYC's music scene for two years with their modern old school R&B sound. Since Maxfield's recent return to Rochester she has joined up with fellow musicians: Troyka, Nick Murray of Filthy Funk, and BuddhaHood.

Co-conspirators Maxfield and Dan Stein (keyboards) have combined elements of old school R&B, Motown soul, ‘70’s funk, modern hip-hop, and classic songwriting into a powerful, inspiring sound that grabs the listener’s ear, engages the brain, and gets the booty in gear. Maxfield’s vocals, which go from sultry, smoky, and sweet to diesel-train power at the drop of a hat, are anchored by the muscular groove of a band steeped in the traditions of old-school R&B, jazz improvisation, and modern hip-hop.Fronted by vocal powerhouse Kristen Maxfield, the band’s fresh, soulful sound gets audiences on their feet from the first note and keeps them there to the last bar of the set.

With the release of Maxfield's 2009 EP, Whatcha Waitin’ For?, and support from Brother Wease (95.1FM), Frank De Blase (98.9FM), Kimberly and Beck (98.9FM) and Jeff Calkins, the Kristen Maxfield Band stands ready to explode out of the New York music scene with a bang.
