Theresa Loder spotlighted in Focus magazine by reporter Sherry Baldwin....December 2007 Edition
Local Poet Shares Her Love of the Sea
Loder shared how she has always been drawn to the water....most especially the Gulf Coast of Florida. She is also keenly aware of the healing properties the the ocean possesses. This ,combined with her love of poetry, culminated into this first recording. Peaceful sounds of life along the shore and Loder's own spoken word fills the air of "Beach Access I ".While the CD has only recently been released, many of Loder's listeners have already shared their own special connection to her recording. This has encouraged her to make plans to record Beach Access II in the near future.
When asked what inspires her work, Loder looked back to a poem she first penned as a third grader. This poem about a ship peaked her interest in writing. It was also clear, even back then, that she was drawn to the sea. Over the years, she has written many award winning poems, including the poem Trading Spaces. The Sarasota Arts Council, and the Holocaust Museum, selected this poem to become part of their Embracing Our Differences exhibit.
However, Loder's writing has not been limited to poetry. She has written many musical lyrics and has even spent time working as a newspaper columnist. She credits her husband ,Rick, for his unwavering encouragement.
When not traveling in their motor home, Theresa and Rick Loder currently reside in Zephyrhills,Fl. For more information you may contact Theresa at her PO Box 2343,Zephyrhills, fl. 33539 or you may email her at conchsix@aim.com or iwrite4you62hotmail.com. - Sherry Baldwin
