“Smoke Show is easily one of the strongest and most assured local releases so far this year. Like we expected anything less. . . Triggers has almost too many good ideas -- what a tragedy! But when they’re shoehorned into these largely three-minute pop songs, it can give the constantly shifting music a frantic edge.” - Pittsburgh City Paper
“Smoke Show is a pure blast of smart vintage power pop.” - Pittsburgh Post Gazette
“Triggers manage to sound like a different group on almost every power-poppin' song, starting with the adenoidal Costelloish anthem, 'Eyes Like a Ninja.'
The raunched-out 'Anyone at Anytime' smacks of Beatles via Supergrass, while the closer, 'Change It Up,' does just that, blending pop-rock with a taste of ska.
A band experimenting with sound and style. . . With this kind of a start, Triggers just might be next year's model." - Pittsburgh City Paper
"Triggers, the favorite sons of Pittsburgh's East End, are a piano power-pop quartet of epic proportions. Whether they are evoking Elvis Costello and Ben Folds, or pumping out catchy riffs in a sound all their own, they'll make you want to hop out of your seat and dance.
Always an engaging act, fans of all ages are wooed by Adam's quiet charm, Joe's between-song commentary, Brett's piano-bench dance routines, and Woody's impressive coif (which often bounces in time to his drumming). Triggers have been evolving over the years but have always maintained the musical integrity, charm, and melody that helped to create their very loyal fan base.
Consider yourself warned: you will probably find yourself singing along by the end of this show, and if they outdo themselves, you may find yourself singing along for days to come."
- Summer Sounds
“Imagine if Ben Folds and Devo joined forces with some help from Elvis Costello to form a band, and you have an idea of what Triggers sounds like. Triggers new EP, Elude the Suits, takes the sound introduced on their first demo and refines it even further. From the jumpy staccato new wave guitar hook of Eyes Like A Ninja to the hyper pop She Had Me At Takeoff with its falsetto vocal, to the piano pounding rocker Anyone At Anytime, Elude The Suits is full of great pop songs.” - Bagofsongs.blogspot.com
“Triggers expel an effortless vocal-majority garage punk-rock tone that seems to address all the concerns of interested fans. Different and exciting." - Smother Magazine
"Triggers play music that just drips indie-pop . . . Triggers lifted a packed house at Club Cafe out of the winter doldrums …this was a rare occasion where each and every song was enjoyable and no one song brought the evening to a screeching halt.
This band can create believers out of any self-respecting music fan."
- The Front
“The instruments are hypnotic and well arranged. Delighted by two upbeat dance numbers and a quirky ballad, the transitions were smooth yet unpredictable.” - Music: Underground Magazine

A BRIEF NOTE:
Culled from the ashes and discarded scraps of seasoned local rock n roll acts Monarch, and The You, Triggers came to be over chicken wings and micro brews at Fat Heads in the historic south side of Pittsburgh in early 2005. A true collective, Triggers bring together the diverse and sometimes conflicting personalities and tastes of each member, resulting in an eclectic batch of songs, sounds, and ideas. Easy comparisons might be to bands like Spoon or Blur, but neither would be entirely accurate. You could call them an indie pop band, but they would probably prefer that you didn’t.
