Summary

The West Coast Songwriters (WCS) International Song Contest 2014 is looking for Sonicbids artists to submit to their songwriter competition. Artists have the chance to win an impressive grand prize package and a smaller prize pack for winners in each category.

Submission deadline is based on Eastern Standard Time.

WCS has been in existence since 1979 and its purpose is to offer opportunity and education to songwriters. With 15 and 20 events a month, WCS continues to be one of the most active songwriter associations in the USA. 

    

The Opportunity

  • Grand Prize: A Bedell EE 18G
    acoustic/electric guitar from Bend Oregon valued at $1399
    , a WCS tee
    shirt, an official certificate, a pass to the 34th annual
    WCS Music Conference
    (September 13-14, 2014). If a
    performing songwriter, they will perform their winning
    song at the Sunset Concert
     and receive free hotel accommodations. Overall value of this
    prize is $2000.
  • Second Prize: A Bedell Discovery BDM-18-M
    valued at $399, a WCS tshirt, and an official certificate.

  • Third & Fourth Prizes:TASCAM DP004
    Digital Pocket Recording Studio mrsp $275,
    a WCS tee shirt, and an official
    Winners certificate.

  • Remaining category winners will receive a condenser
    microphone,
    a WCS tee shirt, and an official certificate.

The Band

This Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters of all genres worldwide. The signature of a parent/guardian is required for each entrant under 18 years of age. Employees of WCS, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible to apply. 

All genres are excepted including an "instrumental" category, but not a "lyric only" category. All songs must be original. If there are less than 5 songs in a category, the category will be moved to miscellaneous. Judges have the right to re-categorize a song if they feel it's in an incorrect genre. 

The Gig

Songs will be judged based on melody, composition, and lyrics (when applicable). The quality of performance and production will not be considered. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any song. 

Winners will be selected by an executive committee comprised of notable singer/songwriters. Past judges and conference guests include hit songwriters and producers Narada Michael Walden, Steve Seskin, Andre Pessis, George Merrill, Bonnie Hayes, and others.
