"Yadkin River Theory CD release party is Friday"

The band’s Southern storytelling bent shines through in songs like “Johnny’s Grave,” a tale of vengeance that starts out with the line, “In a 67 Chevy he made his escape/after Jennifer Johnson accused him of rape.” - The Salisbury Post

Bio

Formed in 2009, Yadkin River Theory came blazing out of small town North Carolina with a fresh rock sound that paid tribute to their southern roots while channeling the diverse musical influences that shaped them sonically. Led by former rivals on the NC scene Tony Greene and Tripp Edwards, YRT pushes both ends toward the middle to create memorable riffs, melodies and lyrics that defy cliché to offer true insight into the volatile mix of light and darkness that make up the human experience. Rounding out the band are Kenny Thomas and Garrett Christy creating a smooth, powerful rhythm section that growls like a muscle car on a back road. Craig Hanks joined the team in 2010 to add the final link in the chain of guitar goodness. Falling somewhere between Tom Petty and The Who with some Dylan, Cure and Elvis Costello thrown in the mix, YRT boasts its own signature sound carved from sweaty, electric performances in clubs and bar rooms across the country. Yadkin River Theory is proud to announce the arrival of their debut album “Born of Red Clay”. Eight months of beer, whiskey, sweat, tears and blood went into the blender to produce these 11 songs that cover as much territory as the titled red clay of the American south. Much like the Yadkin River they grew up next to, these songs are light and dark, clear and smooth one minute, cloudy and violent the next, but always compelling and above all rock like hell.
