"Ismaila Alfa Predicts Top Ten Bands To Watch in 2013 - CBC Manitoba"

....Alfa didn't take the Young Pixels 'seriously' at first. He had noticed their name at various venues around town. He read their bio, learned that they were a husband and wife rock duo who owned an organic farm. Then he heard them and they knocked his socks off! According to Alfa, "they do rock like it should be done...simple, loud and full of life!" Now he takes them "Seriously".

THE YOUNG PIXELS
The Receptive EP
(Independent)

The Young Pixels are husband/wife duo Daniel and Tricia Turner. They live on an organic farm in rural Southwestern Manitoba and they make raw and ragged garage rock in the vein of The White Stripes. This hook-heavy six-song slice of pure, guitar ’n’ drums goodness shows a lot of promise from start to finish — from the impossibly catchy opener Seriously and the ’90s-indebted riot grrl howler Love You through to the rock-stomp closer Share — but I can’t wait to hear what these two come up with when they have room to stretch out over a full-length album.

"Young Pixels keep it short, melodic and loads of fun"

"....the six-song EP features simplistic tunes that will have you singing along by the second chorus. It's sort of like minimalist music done pop/rock style...the Young Pixels have created a sound that works for them....the tracks on this EP play through like a steady steam of consciousness....their music is a mix of melodic pop with a dash of whimsical psychedelia. In short, it's a fun listen!" - The Brandon Sun - By Frank McGwire

"The Young Pixels' music is firmly rooted in Manitoba soil"

Bio

By day, Daniel and Tricia Turner live a very ordinary life raising two young boys and seeding and harvesting organic grains on their farm on the Manitoba prairie. But when night falls and the boys are fast asleep in bed, dirty diapers and plaid shirts stained with tractor grease are abandoned for the cathartic release and magical fusion of electric guitar and drums dancing beneath the twinkling lights of their basement jam room. It is here that the Turners spend countless hours discovering raw, simplistic sounds that are both gritty and melodic. The two move equally between electric guitar, drums and vocals and share in songwriting that is refreshingly honest and self-reflective. Since meeting 7 years ago, The Turners have recorded 3 albums at home and recorded a 6-song EP with Garageland Studio in Brandon in early 2012. They have toured the Manitoba Festival circuit, opening for bands like Imaginary Cities, Nathan, Kinnie Starr and Federal Lights. They are currently recording their upcoming full-length album, with a much-anticipated Spring 2013 release.
