"2anormal Builds on the Old While Creating the New"

Rudeboy Magazine

RBL June 17, 2016

When it comes to being musically inclined, Kansas City’s 2anormal is not a new person in the recording business and has made a name for himself. From innovative and vanguard lyrics to overall performance and style, the music is speaking for itself. Don’t sleep on 2anormal because the musician and entrepreneur might just have something up their sleeve that is purely unexpected.

He’s a hip hop artist that listeners love for his knack of creating infectious anthems from relatable real world content. 2anormal has an impressive music catalog that includes released six full albums and 200 original written songs. His latest project titled Boycott the Bullshit will be released on September 23, 2016.

2anormal’s goal is to generate enough revenue to become a fulltime artist and to build a diehard fan base. - Rudeboy Magazine

"2anormal Continues To Expand His Bussiness Knowledge"

Skilly Magazine

September 23, 2016

Check out the interview with 2anormal exclusively on Skilly Magazine Online.

Skilly: Tell us where this all began. What is your history in the music scene?
2anormal: My career began in 2002. I started out as a member of a group. I recorded songs but never released any albums until my solo debut Get Money, Make Moves in 2008-2009. I have pretty much released 1 album per year ever since.

What are the best ways to promote yourself as an artist? Any tips you can give us?
The two things that work best for me are live shows and internet radio. The only tip I would give is to choose quality of listeners over quantity. Don’t promote based on the sheer amount of people present, promote in the places where people are likely to be the most interested and engaged.

What do you ultimately want to become in your career?
I would like to become a well-known independent artist with a solid fan base that loves my music for how relatable and authentic it is.

What is the hardest thing about being in the music business?
The hardest thing for me is balancing music, family with 2 small children, and my 9 to 5. I never sold any drugs or had some rich investors to finance my career; sometimes it’s a struggle. Timewise and financially, it’s expensive to be a real artist that truly invests in themselves.

What is it like in your city? What is the music scene like, and how is it like living there overall?
Kansas City is the home of a lot of things. The best BBQ in the world and Gates being my favorite. The music scene is dominated by Mob Music. There are many talented artists. I like it here for the most part. It’s a big enough city that there is always something to do, but not so big to the point of traffic jams.

What are some of advice you can give and share to other artists who are still trying to come up?
Read. Especially if you are not being backed by somebody with deep pockets. You cannot afford to lack resources and knowledge. We live in a time where information is more accessible than it has ever been. Read and research any and everything relevant to your career.

What is the best thing that’s ever happened in your career?
The best thing in my career is fan interaction. When people from all over the world take the time out to send a random inbox, message, or comment about how they heard my music somewhere and how much they enjoy it. I don’t think there is anything better than that validation.

What is your inspiration?
My inspiration is life itself. My approach to writing is the same as old school r&b. For the most part, r&b lyrics are inspired by love, pain, and life experience. I like to take my experiences and turn them into stories and anthems that people can feel and relate to.

Do you feel anyone can be successful now in today’s world of music?
Yes. I think it is very possible with the right plan and knowledge. I think the days of people just hearing your song and signing you because they like it are gone. If you put in the work, I think you can be successful.
