Bio

At the crossroads between South American folk music and Northern Americana you will find the Acoustic Nomads.

Acoustic Nomads is a band of rising stars in the Northeast acoustic jazz scene, interweaving jazz and newgrass with folkloric traditions from North and South America.  The group’s influences span Jazz, Celtic, and Appalachian music as well as Venezuelan, Peruvian, Argentinean, and Brazilian music.  Their unique sound is a result of the players harnessing their varied musical interests and joyously exploring uncharted musical territory together.

First created by Noah Harrington (bass) and Maurizio Fiore Salas (cuatro/guitar) as Noah y Maurizio, they have evolved alongside mandolinist Ethan Setiawan and fiddler Sofia Chiarandini to create a unique ensemble that presents original music blending genres from all across the Americas. Following in the footsteps of world music giants like The Silk Road Project, Acoustic Nomads seeks to change the world through musical collaboration.

Chief among their goals is to show audiences the diversity within and commonality between many different musical traditions, creating curious, compassionate global jazz music fans the world over. Their performances maintain the truest spirit of folkloric music while delving into modern jazz improvisation and sophisticated chamber music arrangements, truly showing how different cultures can come together and join in the celebration of art and humanity.

Acoustic Nomads has headlined performances at WBUR Cityspace in Boston, Club Passim in Cambridge, Hartford’s Baby Grand Jazz Series, Arts at the Armory in Somerville, Barnarts’ Feast & Field Series in Barnard VT, and performed at major bluegrass festivals Freshgrass, Grey Fox and Joe Val.
