New local hip-hop-ish band Aldente—which deserves legit thumbs-up for that goofball name—just released its self-titled album. The great thing about this is it’s mostly live, as far as I can tell, with actual analog drums, even. I admit I’m a total sucker for Go Team-style beats, and “Love Life” has them in spades. The whole record is kinda funky and mostly fun. - Flagpole Magazine
King Da Ka... is the debut album from Athens based rock-rap group Aldente. Forming to revive rock and make hip-hop shows livelier, Aldente crafts sound through combining elements of trap, krunk, and alternative music. I would best describe it as the inverse of nu metal... For playlist junkies, “Love Life,” is a great first track to dive into. Containing a fun beat, moving bassline, and an array of vocals, the track is catchy and transformative. I’d like to compare the flow of this song to many of Injury Reserve’s songs. - Marsupial Media

ALDENTE ALDENTE ALDENTE. It all started on a Thursday night in Athens, Georgia. Big Al and Hendawg were jamming and crushing crispy boys when Squid and Bubba come busting in from the street with their friend Gyro (pronounced ji-ro). Squid picks up a guitar and lays down such an insane guitar solo that the guitar burst into flames. Bubba throws out the smoothest rhythms ever spoken by a human being and Gyro begins to sing a song about stray cats that was so beautiful it would make Stone Cold Steve Austin melt into beer laced tears. Though the group hadn't met before that night, a few drinks later Aldente was formed. Virginia Slim joined the Aldente madness after their first mixtape, "King Da Ka". Her beautifully spicy vocals heavily influenced the writing of Aldente's upcoming music. Aldente eclectic blend of hip-hop and rock 'n roll is inspired by a wide range of artists such as Soulja Boy, The Beastie Boys and Pharrell.
