"Malan Breton NYFW After-Party at the Hudson Hotel"

Internationally acclaimed Taiwanese fashion designer and Academy Award-nominated director, Malan Breton, returned to his old stomping ground at Hudson Hotel where he previously worked as a lobby ambassador, for his official NYFW after-party. Guests including RHONY Sonja Morgan and NBA player Thad Young celebrated the designer’s latest collection and enjoyed an open bar and special performances by Airy Jeanine, Alex Caruso and international pop sensation Wil.

In a silent auction benefitting Sound Affects, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and funds for cancer research by partnering with musical artists, two extraordinary Malan Breton handmade, hand detailed, silk couture gowns were displayed on live models floating about the space. Breton was deeply moved by the crowdfunding efforts of Sound Affects to change the way the war on cancer is fought. He was brought to tears as he commemorated a close friend who had lost the battle to breast cancer just days before.

Breton presented his Spring/Summer 2016 collection earlier this week, titled, “Reflections,” which includes mens- and womenswear designs inspired by Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan, to which Breton recently traveled. Distinctly displayed in his breathtaking collection was Breton’s invaluable background in the arts, as traditional Taiwanese dying techniques, embroideries, silks, and fibers of the Eastern world, merged with Western silhouettes.

Guests in attendance included Malan Breton, Sound Affects, international pop sensation Will, Real Housewife of New York Sonja Morgan, NBA player Thad Young, musicians Airy Jeanine and Alex Caruso. - Tipsy Diaries

"Celeb mags follow Culpeper songstress in NYC"

A pair of celebrity magazines photographed Culpeper pop singer Alex Caruso when she performed last week in New York City. The 2015 graduate of Culpeper County High School is preparing to release her album.

Celebrity buzz followed Culpeper pop singer Alex Caruso to her recent show in New York City even as opportunities continue to build for the rising songstress.
OK! Magazine and Radar Online both published photographs of Caruso prior to her show at a club on the Lower East Side. The 2015 graduate of Culpeper County High School was photographed with reality TV star Chantelle Fraser, of Bravo TV's Blood, Sweat & Heels.
Caruso's manager, Gordon Humphrey, of Hump Day Media, said she owned the stage during the subsequent set.
"She absolutely became a star last Tuesday night," he said. " When she started singing the whole audience got quiet — until she ended her first song and then they roared with applause. From that moment on, it was a rock concert."
From her first note, Caruso said she felt more confidence than ever before: " It was probably the most amazing moment of my life. And it was really awesome, too because I got to meet a couple Culpeper ladies-turned-New Yorkers that came out to see me play."
Besides getting a taste of stardom, the local girl successfully raised more than $500 for implementing cancer research, and is now a featured Sound Affects artist. Plans are already in the works for another big show in the Big Apple, Humphrey said, hinting at another more local show around the holidays.
"We are still reeling from the whole experience — and my email and phone are starting to light up about her," he said.
Caruso's next single, "Hyperventil8," is slated for release in a few weeks along with a music video. Her debut single, "Layaway," came out late last year. Its video has been viewed on YouTube more than 52,000 times.

"Culpeper pop singer performing cancer benefit on Manhattan's Lower East Side"

Local pop singer Alex Caruso takes on the Big Apple Tuesday night as headliner for a benefit performance on the Lower East Side. The 2015 graduate of Culpeper County High School is playing Casa Mezcal, off of Delancey Street, as part of an event in support of cancer research.
Buffalo Wild Wings in Culpeper will broadcast the concert live on the big screen for free starting at 6 p.m.
"This is all so amazing," Caruso said. "I'm still in shock. I'm so lucky to have the chance to do what I love to do and also raise money for such a great cause. When I was a little girl singing to anyone who would listen to me, I never thought I could take it this far."
Another local musician, James Tamelcoff III, a rising junior at Madison County High School, will accompany Caruso on acoustic guitar while backing her up with some harmonies at the New York show being organized by the nonprofit group, Sound Affects.
"We are excited," he said Monday. "It's always been a goal to get to New York. I hope we can get in front of some high-end people in the music industry and make a good impression."
Caruso was selected to play the show through a partnership with ReverbNation, an online platform for musicians, said Mona Jhaveri, of Connecticut, director of Sound Affects.
"Alex responded to the opportunity and I called her manager for an interview," she said. "At these music events, we can only showcase two artists at a time; when ReverbNation puts out their blast we get 500 applicants. They become the way this effort gets spread out to the world."
Founded a year ago, Sound Affects raises money for the development of discoveries arising out of cancer research, according to Jhaveri. The organization concurrently provides exposure for musicians and uses that platform to support the cause.
"We created a crowd funding portal so cancer discoveries can be funded by the people," she said. "We've enabled people to get behind solutions which really changes the dynamic of what gets to the clinic."
Caruso stands on the brink of stardom, said her manager, Gordon Humphrey, of Culpeper, with HumpDay Music.
"This Culpeper girl is getting ready to set the world on fire," he said. "Her voice, her charisma, her heart are all one in a million and I am so proud to be part of her development. She's getting ready to put Culpeper on the map in a very big way."
At Tuesday's event in New York, Caruso will perform several covers including Katy Perry's "Unconditionally" and "Let It Be" by The Beatles in addition to her original single from 2014, "Layaway," written by Humphrey. London-based performer Ozonna will open the show being hosted by Chantelle Fraser of Bravo TV's "Blood, Sweat & Heels."
Following the concert at Casa Mezcal, Caruso will perform the set in Times Square.
On her Facebook page, the young singer dedicated her first-ever Big Apple performance to small-town boys and girls dreaming big.
"The hope I felt as a little girl when I sang for the first time is still with me," Caruso said. "And I am taking it with me to New York."

"Alex Caruso performs at National Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C."

Alex Caruso took her music to an international audience as a featured performer Tuesday at the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.
"It was quite different than any other stage I've been on before — a ll the tourists from different states and countries ," said the Culpeper County High School senior. "It was so amazing to be able to share my music with so many new people."
An aspiring pop singer, Caruso is set to release her debut album, "Evermore," through local music producer Gordon Humphrey's Hump Day Records. The video for her single, "Layaway," released earlier this year, has already gotten thousands of views on YouTube and other online sites.
Humphrey, her manager, was with Caruso for Tuesday's gig in D.C., which he said was amazing. The pink and white blossoms provided a sweet-looking backdrop for the affair attended by a local entourage that included Caruso's band — Brian Sauerwald, James Tamelcoff, Jacob Hendren and John Johnson Jr.
They performed a 45-minute set on the Tidal Basin Stage of originals and covers such as "Brave" by Sara Bareilles, "Lips Are Moving" by Meghan Trainor and "Layaway," an original by Humphrey.
He said the crowd grew larger and larger as the set commenced. At one point, an entire row of photographers was shooting the performance, Humphrey said.
"Each song was met with enthusiastic applause and tourists upon tourists crowded the stage area to get a glimpse of the person behind the voice on the loudspeakers," he said. " After the show, concert goers approached Alex to meet her and she was interviewed by a reporter team from Howard University."
The weather was perfect, Humphrey added.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival ends Sunday.
This year commemorates the 103rd anniversary of the gift of trees from Toyko to Washington, D.C. The National Park Service predicts the flowers will be at peak bloom beginning Saturday through April 14.
"The Peak Bloom Date is defined as the day on which 70 percent of the blossoms of the Yoshino cherry trees that surround the Tidal Basin are open. This date varies from year to year, depending on weather conditions," according to the park service. - Star-Exponent

"Alex Caruso sells out two shows"

Culpeper County High School senior Alex Caruso is putting her passion and talent for singing to good use this holiday season with a free concert at Culpeper’s State Theatre.
At 17 years old, Caruso’s two sold-out concerts on Tuesday will not only be an impressive feat, but will also benefit local charities.
Caruso is not charging admission to her show, but instead is asking each attendee to bring a non-perishable food item for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank or give a small cash donation to the organization at the show.
Also accepted will be a toy donation to be distributed to families by Culpeper Housing and Shelter Services.
The 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows are sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings, M.D. Russel Construction and Updike Industries.
Caruso’s lastest single and music video, “Layaway,” will premiere at both shows. For more information on Caruso, visit officialalexcaruso.com.
