"Las Vegas Songwriter Recognized By International Contest"

Las Vegas native Angela Ramsey recently received the honor of being named winner in the Adult Contemporary category by the Song of the Year (http://www.songoftheyear.com/ ) songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.

Song of the Year is excited to recognize Angela Ramsey for her exceptional songwriting ability for the song Broken Glass. She competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked what inspired the song Broken Glass, she said “it’s about regret and the perspective that comes from growing up.”

Currently Angela Ramsey is concentrating on her songwriting while hoping to secure a publishing/licensing deal. In addition, she continues to play live in and around Las Vegas in cafes and clubs.

Bio

My aim is to write catchy songs that are a full of flavor and earthiness. I try to use cool melodies and clever lyrics so that the songs really sink in with the listener.

Though I tried to avoid music altogether (my professional musician father wasn't so keen on it), a stream of professional jobs left me aching to write. Incidentally, my first songs were all about feeling trapped and aliented. Good news: I've gone on to write about many new topics, and much to my delight, I've gotten terrific feedback from friends, fans and, yes.... even dad.

"Broken Glass" was a finalist in 2006's Song of the Year competition. Additionally, "Blush" has been accepted into the catalogue of an established music publisher.

In the future (dare I say it?), I'd love to have a hit song. My music is pliable enough, I believe, to take a variety of shapes in the studio, and I certainly welcome the chance to work with great people who can contribute to the vision of my music. Also... being an aspiring screenplay writer... I'd certainly adore the chance to have my music placed in film.

Thanks for listening!!

"('Las Vegas') isnt a song, its an independent film striking in its richness of detail. But its Angelas vocal that cinches the deal in her understated way, she attains real poignancy."
