AshÉ

Ashé (ah-shay) is a neo alternative soul singer and songwriter. She was born into musical

family in Toronto Canada, where she studied classical voice and later jazz,pop and soul

with some of Canada's top coaches. A classical coloratura soprano with a four octave

range, Ashé combines her strengths and multi genre training to compose music often

compared to other Neo soul divas like Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Janelle Monaé. With 20 years of performance

experience Ashé writes music that is surprising and well thought. In 2014, she received a

grant from FACTOR helping her be able to release her first music video “Your Eyes.”

From there, she has performed with Juno award winner alumni and at Jazz and Blues

festivals across Canada , Beaches Jazz Festival , and other venues in her hometown

Toronto like;The Rivoli,3030, Burdock, Horseshoe Tavern Lee's palace and The Drake to

name a few .

Previously living with a devastating anxiety disorder, the stage used to be a terrifying place

for young Ashé. Now she helps others “sing through the fear” with her unique stage

coaching . Always striving for the best performance, she is constantly working to add to her

craft. She is currently furthering her studies in dance, vocal technique, theory and acting . Ashé is a touring backup vocalist with two funk bands and has recently joined forces with Army of Sass Toronto, a heels dance company focused on female empowerment and confidence building. In June 2018, she played Dreamgirls Beyonce in the three night sold out  AOS show "Queen Bey"at The Mod Club in Toronto.

Ashé can be seen working alongside small ensembles, stage musicals , singing the national anthem at Woodbine race track or a variety of big

bands like PHATBACK. Pairing her soulful catchy melodies and rhythmic movements with

the funky hip-hop phatness that is Phatback, AshÉ adds an addictive sultry quality to the

live shows. Ashé hopes to bring her music to festival stages internationally and inspire the

world. In the future she aims to partner with others for body confidence seminars and

workshops aimed at helping others increase their self esteem and create community. Outside of music, she is a energy healer , tarot reader and vocal coach. Ashé also plays

the Alto Sax and cooks a mean vegetarian meal! Her angelic and powerful vocals paired

with her high energy stage presence create a remarkable live show.
