"Neon Tune Roots Review"

The track begins with a captivating, dark guitar overtop a steady drum. Gipson's voice is powerful - starting low and building to give the chorus her all, she demands attention for what her lyrics convey: no matter where you end up, you are always connected to your roots.

"Oh, I think these roots are buried way too very deep."

Everyone yearns to grow and see the world and change, but there is always some part that stays connected to home. Gipson's lyrics perfectly describe these complicated emotions through poetic, nature-inspired metaphors. She paints vivid pictures of mountains, pines, rising waters, and an overall southern gothic aesthetic. The track itself blends with her voice, building and amplifying her sentiments in the chorus - featuring an electric guitar riff, heavy drums, and ethereal elements driving her point home.

An instrumental and musical journey from start to finish, Gipson's lyrical storytelling skills shine through in "Roots." The track takes listeners to another world, and her narration allows connection to her every word.
From Atlanta, Georgia, Avery Gipson now studies Songwriting at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. "Roots" is her second single, following her debut "Look What You've Done" in 2019. Both singles highlight her talent - as a songwriter, she is unapologetic and writes universal truths that anyone can relate to. She frequently plays writers' rounds and shows around Nashville and in her hometown of Atlanta. "The Transition"

"Roots" showcases the good, the bad, and the "scream this song out the window of your car in the middle of a traffic jam".
The first time I heard this I was driving home with a 103-degree fever, and even then felt like I was on top of the world.
The release dwells upon the internal paradox of wanting freedom from adolescence, but also missing the security blanket of the life you've deemed home. - Kylie Rose
