Local heavyweights B! and their self-described “hardsoul” opened the show and quickly made a devastating impression. If you haven’t seen this power trio yet, don’t wait any longer. If I had a big time record label, this is the first band that I would sign. B! has grooves that make it torturous to stay seated. The songs are both crushingly heavy and beautifully melodic at different times, and vocalist Dan Knight can flat-out sing. The guys in Candiria were so impressed that they dedicated one of their songs to them. A great, great band!

Let me first just say that in the four years that I have gone to concerts at the Ranch Bowl I have never seen any show sell out..... The next band up is B! from Minneapolis. B! is a three-man group that plays metal, funk, jazz, and blues. This band is not your typical looking hard rock band but when they step up on stage they definitely can rock out hardcore. Comprised as a power trio,B! has some great sounds that are chuck-full of melodic lines,soulful grooves,and memorable hooks.Dan's smooth vocals, which are reminiscent of Lenny Kravitz,works well on this cd with the hard edge of Shaun's guitar work.I really liked the use of sampling for added appeal.Although every song on this album is excellent,I tried to pick a favorite and it was the first track "DEAD" that seemed to exemplify the "hardsoul" sound and proves to the listener why this band has great potential as well as good musical sense.The vocal lines are seductive and the funky groove keeps you locked in.

the facts
1.B! is a rock band.
2.We are influenced by all styles of music,but we are a rock band.
3.We hail from the great state of Minnesota.
4.Our sound is a fusion of Jazz,Funk,Soul,Hard Rock,Pop and Metal all happening at once that we call simply hardsoul.
5.All of our songs deal with relationships of every kind.
6.The name B! just sounded cool after a few beers,the exclamaition point was added so people would yell it...hopefully.
7.Dan Knight is the lead vocalist/bassist and plays drums in the studio.He also makes a mean "hot salad".
8.Shaun Ware is the guitarist and does things to a playstation 2 that are illegal in 4 countries.
9.Some say or music is similar to sevendust,incubus,kings x,tool,and a bunch of other bands.
10.Those people also lie,a lot,so judge for yourself.
HISTORY:
B! has been a band since 2001.
Dan and Shaun have been playing together off and on for a few years in other bands.
B! actually started as a joke band that strove to be the Black Spinal Tap, due to everyone being in other projects.
Soon after the first few rehearsals the songwriting became more focused and the band decided to be more serious....AND WE STILL SPIT HOT FIRE!
