Backstage Acquires Sonicbids FAQ

Why Sonicbids and Backstage?
Sonicbids and Backstage come from extremely similar visions and missions of matching artists with gigs. What Sonicbids does for bands and music promoters, Backstage has done for actors and casting directors for more than 50 years. There are amazing synergies between the two companies, and we believe that together, we’ll be able to even better service and empower the creative community.

So who is Backstage?
Backstage helps actors, models, dancers, singers, comedians, variety performers, voice-over artists, and crew members find gigs — while helping casting directors, producers, directors, choreographers, photographers, writers, agents, and other entertainment-industry employers find amazing talent for all of their projects.

Performers find casting calls and land acting auditions for theatre, (Broadway, Off-Broadway, off-off-Broadway, cabaret, and more), television series, reality TV and documentaries, feature films, music videos, radio, voice-overs, comedy clubs, photo shoots, and more.

I’m a Sonicbids artist. What’s this mean for me?
We see only upside for our artist members as we can now start leveraging opportunities from the other side of the fence. More gigs in film and TV, opening acts on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, musical performance in Broadway plays, playing at LA Dodgers games. And that’s just to name a few.

We also want to be hyper-focused on delivering you what you need to be successful in your career: gig opportunities, resources and tools. Stayed tuned on that. In the meantime, you can expect your membership and account to remain exactly the same.

I’m a Sonicbids promoter. What’s this mean for me?
We see only upside for our promoters too. Combining forces with Backstage gives us a stronger reach into the worlds of film, entertainment and media. And our backing by Guggenheim Partners gives us a whole set of new assets to leverage like Billboard, Hollywood Reporter and AdWeek to name just a few. We believe we can open up many new opportunities for our promoter partners.

As for your account, no immediate changes are expected there. We’ll be in touch soon with more information about how we can deliver you resources and tools to help with your job.

So what’s ahead for Sonicbids & Backstage?
We want to continue with our mission of being the leading platform for connecting artists with gigs. We also to learn a lot from each other to bring new opportunities to our members and deliver the best gigs, educational content and other tools and resources to help manage your career.

Hey, will I still be seeing you in Boston?
Yep. Sonicbids will be maintaining its headquarters in Boston. An added bonus is that we’ll also now have presence in LA and New York.

Will Sonicbids still be Sonicbids?
Yes. For the foreseeable future, Sonicbids will maintain its name and brand.

Panos, will you still be around?
Absolutely. Panos will be continuing his role as CEO of Sonicbids. Meanwhile, John Amato from Backstage will be Chairman and CEO of the combined companies.

Is there a plan to combine the two websites/platforms?
Currently, the plan is to maintain both the Backstage and Sonicbids’ sites. Longer term, if it makes sense, we’ll look at combining the sites to better service our customers.

Is everyone staying on at Sonicbids?
Yes, the team here will remain in tact, so expect the people you work with to all still be here.

Who is Guggenheim Partners, by the way?
Guggenheim Partners is a privately held financial services firm who financed the deal. They have a strong reach into entertainment and media with assets like Dick Clark Productions, The LA Dodgers, Billboard Magazine, Hollywood Reporter and AdWeek. Being backed by Guggenheim gives us much stronger reach and presence in entertainment and media.
