Bio
In the spring of 2005 West Texas natives Alan Gill, Jason Riggs and Lee Perez combined their musical talent and powerful devotion to music to form 1000 lbs of Sound. The original blend of heavy, trippy, groove, and blues styles mesh to create a powerful sound complete with strong vocals and a mind blowing mix of riffs, rhythm and lead. The driving sound, intense rhythm, on the spot beats and dual vocalists of the Pounds have been rockin the Amarillo scene, and are now fresh off their west coast tour. The Pound's music is featured in the award-winning independent film "On the Table," for which Gill was director of photography. The band also earned critics' approval at the Emergenza Music Festival in Austin last November. "For a heavy name, 1000 lbs of Sound was able to jump around musically through intricate guitar mixed with trippy rhythms and solid bass. Great instrumental work!"--Bob LaBlah, panelist for Emergenza Music Festival. Band members independently wrote, recorded, mixed, edited and produced three tracks from the band's debut album "Heavy", with the other eight recorded at Amarillo's A.M.P. Studios.
In the summer of '06 the Texas trio embarked on their first tour, spending a month playing shows in Washington, Oregon, and California.
Their sophomore effort, The No. 2 was recorded in Olympia, Wa in September of '06.
