"Same Way, Both Hands"

This 9-song CD has an alternative metal edge to them and, as much as I'm not a fan of alternative music, I actually like this CD as it has many interesting styles of music going on: think of PINK FLOYD playing alternative thrash metal with female vocals (Lydia Lunch, SHOTGUN WEDDING) and that can give you a basic idea as to what's going on musically. Another surprise is that it's a concept CD which is pretty rare for a bands first CD. The music is heavy at times with the emphasis on the mood of the song's lyrics but also has some very well played acoustic parts through out and with Tracy O'Connor's lead vocals, which are sometimes sung and sometimes spoken, really work well in the context of the song's music. Also, George's occasional lead vocal adds a little diversity to the overall mix, making it broader for the band to expand with the duel female/male vocal parts. The production and mix is perfect. The bass, drums, (Kyle Kydd, Shawn McHatton) vocals, and guitars are nice and clear. I can't wait to see what 12:06 has in store for us on their next release.

"Soundcheck Magazine"

So we've got this out-and-out scary rock music. It's got some goth influence; we've got a five-member outfit; two guitars, bass, drums and a girl out front singing. Drummer's got the rapid fire 16th note thang down with those two kick pedals. She doesn't sing everything either. Nope, on up-tempo song number 4, "State of Mind", we've got a dude crooning. I swear if you apply the notes this band is playing to thirteenth century instruments they'd be called Troubadours. For the most part those are the types of melodies they're utilizing. Title cut "12:06 AM" has more of the same horror movie music but it's also got a dialog of interest. It's basically a girl leaving a guy and the veiled threats and verbal stabs that generally ensue. - L.A. Joe

Remember when singers, you know... SANG? "Lalala" not "gruntgruntgrunt" or "rapraprap" or today's favorite "whinewhinewhine". Yeah, we remember that, too. OH! Remember guitar solos? Nice, tasty guitar solos? Not that late 80's GIT "play really really fast with no point" kinda solo, but a solo that actually fits the song and tells a story, as well? Yeah, we like tasty solos. Lyrics... remember when lyrics told a story, with a beginning and an ending and didn't sound like someone's therapy session with rhymes? Song structure!! Who remembers when songs had more than 2 parts? (And no, having the guitars drop out while the bass plays the verse riff DOES NOT count as a 3rd part) Yep, we got lots of riffs and parts... and they all make sense!! So, if you remember singing, soloing, good story telling through lyrics and music then BY GOD YOU MUST CHECK OUT 12:06!
