JORDAN

Rooted in fancy footwork, along with commercial tracks on the radio, movie, television, songwriting, and production credits behind him, Jay Das, otherwise known as ‘Kidd’, continues to make solid waves in the music and entertainment industries. Jay’s talent is multi-faceted and unique. His dance skills are undeniable and his style is very much in demand. Although he comes from a small town, this young man has big dreams and is pretty much on his way to the top.

-A bit about Jay-

Jordan Daniel Angelo Setacci was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, as the oldest of five children. At a very young age, he would mimic the smooth moves of his idol Michael Jackson, as if he were on stage with him. Jordan would perform for hours, while his passion for entertaining grew. Explains Jordan, “I spent all of my free time dancing and putting on shows for my family, friends, and anyone who would watch.”

One day at school, a fellow classmate was passing by, she noticed Jordan dancing in the halls. She approached him, and told him that he should take a Hip Hop class at her studio. Although it wasn’t socially acceptable for guys to dance in general, Jordan decided to take her up on her offer, and went to the class that same night. Little did he know, this one class turned into a hobby, and that hobby would then lead to a successful career. Slowly, he built a reputation around school, as “the dancer”, and by the end of his first year dancing; he had the whole city talking. To become a well-rounded dancer, he started to take Jazz classes. While training intensively for 2 years, Jay decided that he’d like to make a living out of his art.

In 2003, Jordan’s dancing career took shape when he landed his first big break in the feature film “Honey” starring Jessica Alba. “I never thought I would get this gig so early in the game. It was an exciting part of my life, and all my friends and family were really supportive about it”, says Jay. During the filming of “Honey”, his eyes were opened to wider career paths; the whole entertainment industry was intriguing him, as music starting taking priority in his life. Though only 16 at the time, his business sense was developing quite rapidly. He quickly realized that singing was another interest of his, and that he could very well blend his love for dancing with his new found passion. Word of mouth helped him establish a name around Toronto, as Jordan danced for Keshia Chante, Gary Beals, and appeared in music videos for Kyprios and Shawn Desman. He kept his feet on the ground and stayed humble to his beginnings, having learned that “big heads don’t fit through the audition doors”.

-A bit about Jay’s music-

Building on the momentum of his dancing success, Jay started to focus more closely on his producing and singing career. He hooked up with Wiz Kilo, and together, they founded the production company “Buzy Cats Productions”. Both being C.E.O’s, they run much more than just beat making. They are accomplished producers, singers, songwriters, and they also do photography, and websites. Jay has already had a track on the radio, that he co-wrote, and fully produced, and he’s just getting started. Jay has been crafting his sound for a while now, and his music should be accessible to the public soon enough. Already a smart businessman, he put out test songs on the Internet to capture people’s reactions, as he knows how hard it is to break in an industry full of big record labels that control the airwaves. He’s been receiving attention nonetheless, creating a large fan base from North America all the way to Europe. Though into singing these days, Jay’s never forgotten his dance roots, as he makes sure to incorporate them into his electrifying live performances. He showcased his talents on many stages, including Canada’s Wonderland, Canadian Music Week 2005, First Night 2005 (Toronto), Hard Rock Café (Montreal), and Mobile Beat DJ Show 2005 (Niagara Falls, New York).

-What’s in Store-

Having gone on a coast-to-coast Canadian tour with Sony/BMG recording artist Keshia Chante this past summer, Jay’s eager to do a tour of his own. He is currently working out possible performances in Europe, as well as preparing to unveil his new material in Las Vegas, Nevada, in early 2006.

Being the “Buzy Cat” that he is, Jay still finds the time to teach Hip Hop classes and choreograph competitive numbers for studios such as, Dance Inc. (Barrie, ON), and Broadway Lights (St. Catharines, ON). In 2005, he won “Young Choreographer of The Year” at ADA (American Dance Awards) and Shine Dance Competitions, as well as “Outstanding Choreographer” at the Foot Loose Dance Competition.

Jay has sharpened his already advanced dance skills to the next level, as he recently filmed WB’s “Felicity” (due: Nov. 29), and “Save The Last Dance 2: Steppin’ Up” (due: TBD), as a featured dancer.

-Words of Wisdom-

This triple-threat performer has many tricks in his bag of talents that are ready to be shared with eager listeners/viewers. “The key is to believe in yourself and if you put in the effort from day-to-day, then positive results should show”, says Jay. Indeed, his star will shine as he has put in the effort; Jay Das is the perfect example of a success story that started from taking just one dance class. If he can do it, then so can you!

Jordan had built quite a name for himself singing, dancing and competing at a young age around his hometown of Thorold (Ontario, Canada) before moving to the big city of Toronto to pursue his career. He has been writing and producing a collection of songs that will be the key ingredients to his success. Jordan's signature production and songwriting style on ‘Neva Felt So Good’ received rotation on Toronto's Flow 93.5FM. ‘Got Me Like’, written and produced alongside Wiz Kilo, was entered in the prestigious ‘International Songwriting Competition 2006’, reaching the semi-finals (out of 15,000 entries from all over the world) and peaking in Top10 European charts.

During a performance in New York City, Jordan caught the attention of various industry professionals such as R&B group SWV’s mastermind Maureen Singleton, the Auntie Boyz, and the Souldiggaz. Jordan also had the opportunity to showcase for Doc-Ock aka Octavius Crouch (Universal Records A&R), Jive Records, and Atlantic Records. “If you’re not working your craft to the best of your ability, another artist somewhere in the world just like yourself is working overtime”. So with that in mind Jordan is constantly in the studio writing and producing hits for his future albums and other top industry names as well as teaching dance classes, doing what he loves to do.

Jordan's first independant album release titled "Post No Bills" will hit the digital world early 2009! With having talents in every aspect of the entertainment industry, Jordan is growing every day, whether musically or when it comes to dance. Nothing can stand in his way to success, so you either jump on the “J-Train” or get out of its way!
