Bio

12 Months In 2 Weeks is the solo project of singer/songwriter Tarkan Çeviker.

Tarkan has had a love for music from a very early age, due mostly in part to his father’s passion for the highest quality audio his pay could afford. He grew up listening to the likes of Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens, John Denver and everything 80s.

Some of his fondest childhood memories were getting up early to record songs from Rage and Video Smash Hits onto cassette tape. What started as fun, became a weekly obsession.

In his younger years, Tarkan showed brief glimpses of his longing to perform, but due to a lack in self confidence, always ended up shying away from any potential opportunities.

It wasn’t until after he had graduated high school that he felt ready to take the next step.

Having discovered what it was like to have an income, thanks to his first ‘real’ full-time job, Tarkan invested in his first guitar. A horrible sounding, difficult to play, thick necked nylon stringed acoustic. He then took up classical lessons with the greatly skilled and experienced Bill Griffith.

After a year of guitar lessons, and nine months of singing lessons, Tarkan decided to take the plunge and enrol at the Contemporary Music Centre at Western Sydney’s Nirimba TAFE campus and whilst there, managed to achieve Certificate IV in music with a credit average.

Shortly after leaving TAFE, Tarkan began producing his own songs from home. After a number of years writing and recording countless demo’s, he’d become increasingly aware that Sydney was not presenting him the opportunities he needed, so in May of 2009, he relocated to Melbourne, Victoria.

It seems he made the right choice. As his solo project 12 Months In 2 Weeks, Tarkan has been playing consistent shows on the Melbourne live music scene.
