"09.10.06"

So simple their name, yet so extensive and multi-faceted is their sound; all parts of the whole. The compositions sound emotional and perfect, and never pedantic or cold. They’re not just virtuosos on their instruments, but also unbeatably unpretentious and entertaining. That is the balance that makes these artists exceptionally successful.

Bio

,,Twelve Strings” – The most authentic Project of the German guitar scene.
When the first pieces were shaped in 1989, it became more and more obvious what kind of potential was immanent in the cooperation of these two exceptional musicians.

Perpetual improvisation, as often taught in German music schools, was far off their spectrum.

In fact, melodies and stylistics are being interwoven, vividly mixed and worked out into finest detail.

Their main focus is on the melody and the quality of the sound, rather than speed of scales and phrases.
A preliminary end was marked by their CD production in the year 1996. After that Twelve Strings was temporarily put on hold until 2002. By December of that year Thomas Glatzer and Matthias Wiesenhütter decided to revive Twelve Strings not least out of encouraging remarks by their fellow musicians.
Glatzer and Wiesenhütter succeed in making Twelve Strings the most booked guitar ensemble by taking management in their own hands and delivering superb concerts to the audience. Approximately 100 concerts per year, the independence from a publisher and management plus the quality of their compositions are warrant and expression of the success Twelve Strings has had in recent years.
