"Premiere: Get To Know Scottish Hip-Hop Duo 131 Northside With Their 'Digital Memories' EP"

Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland, hip-hop duo 131 Northside deliver a never-before-heard voice to rap from their region. WTKAKACB and King Wavey aim for dark, distorted melodies and rhymes over bass-heavy trap beats and atmospheric breaks. Their new EP, Digital Memories, neatly compiles all aspects of the 131 sound over five tracks, with production primarily handled by Watgood and Midas. 131 will be hosting a listening party for the EP on Mar. 26 at The Rag & Bone barbershop in Edinburgh. Watch the video trailer for Digital Memories above and get stuck into the five-track project below. - Complex magazine

"Video Premiere: 131 Northside - HORIZONS"

Watch 131 Northside's moody, self-produced video for single HORIZONS, taken from debut EP Digital Memories

131 Northside – aka King Wavey and WTKAKACB – root their music in Edinburgh's area code, building beats out of a love/hate relationship with their historic home town. The new video to HORIZONS sees the duo take a break from cobbled streets in favour of a lonely stroll through the Pentlands. Scenic shots of rolling hills and rocky peaks clash with eerie graphic design work, as the two turn talk of daily struggles into something more elemental.

Atmospheric, trap-based beats form the base of 131 Northside's sound, with reflective, autotuned vocals that take influence from digital tech as much as they do the ins-and-outs of Scottish city life. The group share a studio space with Edinburgh favourites Young Fathers, and their first EP Digital Memories (largely produced by Watgood and Midas) premiered earlier in the year via Complex. - THE SKINNY

Still working on that hot first release.
