This one is a personal shout out. Let’s take a little break from the acoustics and experience some high-energy yet intensely meaningful music. I saw 13 the other night live at Kenny’s Castaways and they were fantastic. Signed to LL Cool J’s Platinum Harvest Music / Boomdizzle and managed by Violator Mgmt, 13 is a high-energy hybrid of Hip-Hop, Rock and Rap which, when combined with top-tier musicianship, creates not only an amazing studio sound, but an absolutely massive and addictive live experience. About a year ago 13 was a work in progress. With just a demo CD and a guitarist waiting tables at a local diner, 13 needed their big break. That came along when LL Cool J walked in to eat one day. After hearing the demo CD, 13 was signed to his new record label and have been working on an album in Wyclef Jean’s Platinum Sounds Studio ever since. They will also be working on a remix to Wyclef Jeans new hit single “More Bottles” with Wyclef himself at his very own Platinum Sounds Studio in New York City. Aside from that, they have filmed a national TV spot with LL Cool J for Sears and a video for their song “Hollywood.” What started with the lead singer BD and the guitarist Michael Wainer now includes a sick DJ (DJ Crossphade), an amazing bassist (Brady Watt), and an absolutely kick a** drummer (Veronica Bellino). Although signed, they are fairly new to the music industry and I just want to take the time to let everyone experience 13 by listening to their wonderful music.
