Bio

Based in the Border City of Carlisle, Cumbria (UK) and led by the enigmatic Matt “Hoss” Thompson the unsigned 13 Stars have been peddling their brand of music all over England and Scotland. They have recently supported Fish on selected Fishheads tour dates and also John Waite, Dan Reed, It Bites, Mick Pini and recently Jon Amor Blues Group. As well as a storming 100 minutes set at the 2011 Maryport Blues Festival.

Taking their name from the Betsy Ross Flag (itself an act of Rebellion and Revolution) the band rebel against artistic restraints and being pigeon holed. Their ethos is to play passionately what they want, when they want and how they want.

They currently are working on a third album to follow from the self titled debut offering “13 Stars” and its follow up titled “North-Northwest”.
“13 Stars” is an exploration of acoustic music, drawing influence from varying forms of American, folk and rock. Including the Dylan inspired character montage “All These Dreams” and the Springsteen inspired world weary country to city “Dust of the Day”. Both of which have been proven to be crowd pleasers.
“North-Northwest” is a more rock orientated offering with an altogether grandiose feel. Whilst still including powerful acoustic based tracks, it is a much deeper and autobiographical album. “Find My Horizons” a plea to visit the promised land of Virginia and the Shakespeare inspired “Ophelia”
