A unique blend of Portuguese Fado, Classic Rock, Jazz and Blues with a twist. WHAT IS “FADO” Fado music is the heart of the Portuguese soul. It is arguably the oldest urban folk music in the world. Considered the Portuguese Blues, the music is gut wrenching, sometimes humurous, always passionate.

Biography

In 2001 the versatile Duo “15” was formed by an undeniable fate. While working together for the first time in a “put together band” for a corporate party the award winning vocalist and composer, Catarina Cardeal & respected producer drummer/guitar player Mike Siracusa met for the first time. The rest as they say is history.
The duo took their own brand and style alongside original and traditional Fado music into small clubs and to their surprise found out there was an audience for this type of music. Always wanting to give the audience more they started to incorporate into there set lists some classic Rock, Blues and Jazz tunes with a twist. If that wasn’t enough they came up with ways to incorporate all of this into Traditional Fado songs. This creativity did not go unnoticed; within the first year the duo was performing to sell out audiences in large clubs in Toronto and performing at a number of Festivals throughout Canada, and continues to do so.
They have become a favorite with the CBC with 3 sold out shows(Live at the Glenn Gould) and 2 live recordings both featuring Canadian Jazz Legend Jane Bunnett, they also have been featured on many of there national radio shows.
As well as being on the stage performing, Catarina and Mike are both well respected music teachers. This Duo takes pride in the many festival and school workshops that they are asked to be involved in across the country, along with rock and blues camps.
