Bio

DAITRIBE / Project: Storm guitarist Tristan '1690' Grigsby...

His signature self-taught original approach to technique focuses on acoustic guitar and rhythm playing. It began with years of honing his approach by live performances and then studio and session work. Tristan made music in what he calls "the old school way-- any place I could plug myself in. I only wanted to be a rhythm guitar player..." He has progressed to something much more aggressive.

Tristan started playing guitar over 25 years ago. He gained experience thru constant performances at local guitar competitions, work on an instructional cable show, and being a contributing editor for a Chicago based magazine.

He also became known for performing with PanterA as a special guest at some of their club shows and later going on to performing w/ national label acts PanterA, Skid Row, and Anthrax. He can be seen in their platinum home videos / DVDs, Vulgar Video, 3: Watch it GO! and Roadkill.

In 1997 following the release on True Gemini Records of his solo disc, SEVEN TRIALS, he did a clinic/performance tour across the US. That led to becoming the first and only guitarist in the history of the organization to perform the National Anthem unaccompanied for the Chicago Bulls. The year also included a feature in Guitar World magazine dubbing him as the "originator of shred banging".

The end of the 90's saw the birth of a second group, the instrumental juggernaut, Project: Storm. "It's just a gathering of friends captured on tape" Built on the foundation which includes Michael Grigsby on drums and Ricky Riccardo on bass, Project: Storm has opened for artists such as Gary Hoey and Warrant. Tristan has also played and recorded with diverse players including TM Stevens, Bill "the Buddha" Dickens, and Narada Michael Walden.

He insists on letting his music speak for him, he says, "It's only necessary to talk at meet and greets w/ fans, to book shows, set up deals, and at in-stores. I have nothing to say to interviewers. I'll show up for an open mic, to work on new approaches to songs. Jimi Hendrix did that. After he did his shows, he went to an all night jam and played till the sun came up."

Project: Storm released STRATAGEM (2005), with a two week tour to support the release. DAITRIBE released 'The Second Coming' to radio. He'll appear at in-stores in several cities and new merchandise while unleashing relentless neo-progressive attitude...

You're not fuckin' ready!
