They've been playing for a couple of years, and now they're beginning to stir up some noise. The local band 17 South was recently named the Georgia Country Band of the Year for 2008 by Atlanta Country Music.com out of 25 nominated bands
Allen Coefield, the senior editor for ACM, said the winners are selected by both readers' and staff votes. The staff bases their selections on recent CD quality and popularity, media relations of the artist, the number of and quality of performances, and how well the band represents the state of Georgia

17 Southe is a group of musicians with diverse influences ranging from Gospel to Rhythm and Blues. Our unique sound keeps audiences out on the dance floor all night, and always leaves them begging for more at the end of each show. Our band has shared the same stage with national acts such as Emerson Drive, Steve Holy, Jeff Bates, Blackhawk, Josh Gracin, and country legends T. Graham Brown, Mel McDaniel, and most recently Colt Ford. The list goes on and on, because we love making new friends out on the road!
