Bio

Born in the collage of red clay and pine trees in Augusta, Georgia, it was here during high school where STURGIS first explored his talent for creating music. Cultivated by the soundtrack of the 90s era, he began listening to most rap music that was already popular in the South (a la Outkast, Master P & The No Limit Soldiers, So So Def's Bass All-Stars, and etc.) but also broadened his tape collections with his brother's "All Eyez On Me" (2Pac) cassette and his first CD purchase, Jay-Z's "Volume 2: The Life and Times of S. Carter". Later, during classes in middle school, he would find himself entertaining classmates by reciting parodies of his favorite songs and afterwards evolved this habit to writing his own raps and freestyles during lunch in high school. Though not taking his skill seriously at first, he occasionally entered a few rap tournaments and recorded a few tracks for his peers' listening pleasure. But it was prior to the fall of 2004, after graduating high school, where he was discovered by "Jaylun" Harrell in Atlanta, GA and began perfecting his craft professionally to pursue music under the 1025 MUSIC GROUP imprint. During the next couple of years, he took several music courses on college-level and spent countless days studying classic rap albums until he developed a unique style and interpretation of Southern rap music. This combination of learned musicianship and coerce appreciation for urban sound is the identity that makes STURGIS a prominent and necessary personality for Hip-hop & Rap in the "Dirty South" today.

While emulating the rhythmic flows of previous southern acts, STURGIS individualizes his style & cadence with witty punch lines, repetitious wordplay, and a baritone-delivery supported by his natural, charismatic Southern-drawl. In 2007, he independently released KRYPTACHRONICUNALITE, a full-length CD entirely written, recorded, engineered, and executive-produced by himself. Boasting 14 tracks (4 of them produced by Deuce for SoundH Productions), the tape gained him a moderate buzz and interest throughout several states. In 2010, he followed suit, proceeding with the release of AUGUSTA NATIONAL, another mixtape self-constructed but featuring no guest verses. Both tapes are currently available for free download in preparation for his debut album which will appear later in 2011.

By using his life's story and hometown upbringings as his influence, the musical story of STURGIS shows that anyone can achieve success from their environment, as opposed to settling them self to remain a product of it. Through intelligent wordplay, an infectious flow, and his boundless artistry over pulsated melodies, STURGIS brings as much, if not all, of the aspects to emceeing possible with his music, an already extensive & seasoned catalogue. The first street single from his upcoming album, the controversial "Dear Mr. Copenhaver", is already receiving acclamations and has helped to set up what will most definitely be an impressive introduction for the Georgia emcee who is destined to move the crowd once again for hip-hop.
