"Mag Press"

“2009 is shaping up as good one for 1995...Something about the way singer Matt Offord hollers captures something.... It's a very New Zealand voice, clear and unaffected, the combination of opaque murk and vicious rhythm nonetheless makes them a very attractive proposition.”Duncan Greive, Editor Real Groove Magazine - Real Groove Magazine

"C.O.T Review"

“I wager, actually, that, with this EP under their belt, it's time for this band to actually start making some serious waves... Bring on the tsunami mutha-fuckers. Great stuff. I salute you 1995; your genius name has been done justice with this release.”Andrew Tidball, Cheeseontoast.co.nz - Cheeseontoast.co.nz

"Einstein Music Journal Review"

“On CD they have a taut intensity to them, their riveting haunts and bone-rattling crispness accentuated. I found their live show largely faithful to their recordings, with the tight songs and driving rhythms brought to life on stage. …It’d be depressing if it wasn’t so energetic, tight and to be honest, fascinating…. a wall of impenetrable noise. Their music really benefited from the concentration; their rhythm section was one of the sharpest and most impressive I’ve seen”. Nick Fulton, Einstein Music Journal - Einstien Music Journal

Bio

1995 are an Auckland based five-piece who came together as childhood friends and continued to be friends throughout the years. They have spent the last two years developing their unique brand of dark, alternative industrial pop and impressed audiences all over the country, playing alongside some of New Zealand's best live acts.

1995's first three singles - Fractals, A Red Forest and Gettin' Brainz basked in a rapturous response from NZ alt radio and spent several weeks on Top 10s at RDU, Radio Active, Radio 1 and BFM (including 2 weeks at #1). With A Red Forest and Gettin Brainz both breaking into the top 10 on Radioscope's National Alternative chart and all went on to become much talked about radio anthems.

July 09 saw 1995 release their hugely anticipated debut EP, GUILT. Showcasing the band's dark pop sound over 5 tracks, the GUILT EP is garnering even more attention for this exciting new band.

Single Polar Rapid was written and recorded especially for a Limited edition 7-inch vinyl split release.
Produced with Australian Band DZ for Trans-Tasman club night MUM and available exclusively in NZ on Cheeseontoast.co.nz.
Polar Rapid again debuting strong at Alt radio, entering National Alt chart at #20 and remaining in the top 40 for 11 weeks.

New singles Foreign Soil, Love Your Ghost and Nowhere Slow all showcased a newer heavier sound for 1995 and were picked up by all NZ alt radio. All topping the NZ national Alternative chart.

Debut Album is due for release mid 2012.
