Raised by two of Hip-Hops legends, the name 1st Wonder was more than an appropriate fit. Arron Rodriguez, better known to the Underground world as 1st Wonder, was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was raised with a strong musical influence. Son of the late Kenneth McGee, 1st Wonders father was killed when he was just 4yrs old, and at a pivotal point in his career. Upon such a tragic event, Wonder was left to be raised by his mother Markieta, a member of the one of the pioneering female Hip-Hip groups, Main Attraction, and pseudo-adopted by L.A Sunshine of The Treacherous 3, who has also passed on some of the musical talent, and became one of his greatest influences. Not surprisingly, the music gene didnt stop there. In 2007-2008 1st Wonders brother, Lee Carr made a name for himself with such hits as Patron Rhythm and Nuvo, Breathe, and the smash hit Stilettos; in addition to being signed to Def Jam and Jive Records.
1st Wonder began his lyrical journey at the age of sixteen while attending Snyder High School. After high school, he decided to seriously pursue his music career in 2000. Wonder gained some headway by 2006 from doing promos for the Wendy Williams radio show that aired on 107.5 WBLS, being featured on two Heirs commercials (a popular clothing chain in Jersey City) which aired on the BET/Comcast networks, collaborating with platinum producer Nick Fury and female artist Lore'l on the track "Hundred Dollar Billers", and being dubbed the Legendary Kool Moe Dees protégé after hearing him rhyme while hanging out with LA Sunshine during the filming of his movie. Despite these accomplishments, 1st Wonder realized he needed to build a tighter circle, and get his personal life in order when opportunities arose, then fizzled.
In 2009 he co-founded A Breath of Fresh Air Entertainment (F02) which allowed him to build a network of local partygoers in the Tri-state area. By building this network, it allowed him to mingle with other artists, and DJs while building his brand. In 2010 he expanded F02 by starting F02 Music Group. Currently the roster consists of Candis aka SheIsHipHop, Rum, Naymez, DJ Mike Major, Rube, and K. Biggs. Due to his background in business, as well as realizing his capabilities, he fully branded the F02 Music Group by partnering with Candis to form an LLC in 2011.
Since joining together as a team, Candis and 1st Wonder have accomplished much in the past year. These highlights include 1st Wonder executive producing Candis 1st project under the F02 Imprint @SheIsHipHop which led her to receiving a nomination for Best Female Rapper of the Year at the Underground Music Awards (UMAs) in Summer 2011, being interviewed by Sway and Wale on MTV RapFix in Fall 2011 regarding the video for their debut single under the label titled Love You Baby, and having his newest single R.S.V.P. premiere on New Yorks radio station, Power 105.1 FM, by DJ Ty Boogie in Winter 2012.
With the urgency to bring back that 90s feel to Hip-Hop with unique concepts, real life experiences, and witty lines, 1st Wonder is well equipped to restore the feeling of Hip-Hop to the souls of many.
